The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall announces its Legendary 2012-2013 Season, including some of the biggest and stars in entertainment. MeLu Communications Group and Latin Jazz USA Productions in association with OLLANTAY Center for the Arts proudly present the world premiere of the play CUBA: PUNTO X written and directed by renowned theatre and film professional Ivan Acosta. The Arts and Education Council announced this weekend that it has received a $30,000 donation from Maritz to fund the third year of the highly successful and award-winning Maritz Arts and Education Fund for Teachers. The money will be used by A&E to provide grants ranging from $500 to $5,000 for education projects in individual schools and nonprofit education organizations during the 2012-13 academic year.

On September 7, 8 and 9, 2012, Long Beach Opera (LBO) will take audiences on a magical voyage beneath the sea with multimedia performances of English composer Gavin Bryars' The Paper Nautilus at the Aquarium of the Pacific, Long Beach, California. Written for six percussionists, two pianos and two singers, Bryars' exotic score will be performed in front of the Aquarium's three-story 142,000 gallon tank of vibrant sea life and coral, the perfect setting for merging the wonders of the ocean with human artistic creativity.

Cine/Club celebrates fifteen years of presenting free films for teenagers and adults along with lively discussions and film critiques. This historic fifteenth season of Cine/Club kicks off at Randall Museum Theater on on August 24 & 25 with a special free screening of Edgar Reitz's extraordinary 15-hour epic HEIMAT I for teenagers and adult film lovers. The screenings will take place over two days Friday, August 24, from 5-11pm, and Saturday, August 25, from 1-11pm, with breaks for snacks and meals.

The Vagabond Players Theatre at 806 S. Broadway in Fells Point opens its 97th season with GOLDA'S BALCONY by William Gibson, directed by Miriam Bazensky and performed by Amy Jo Shapiro. The production will run from September 7-30.

Road Less Traveled Productions' (RLTP's) Emanuel Fried New Play Workshop (NPW) today announced a special benefit reading of Eurydice, a contemporary take on the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus & Eurydice by acclaimed playwright Sarah Ruhl (In The Next Room, or The Vibrator Play). The reading will be presented at 8:00 PM on Saturday, August 18th at the Road Less Traveled Theater (RLTT) in the Market Arcade Film & Arts Centre, in Downtown Buffalo. The reading will benefit the NPW, an integral component of RLTP's mission to develop and produce plays by Western New York (WNY) writers. RLTP will also be producing Ruhl's Clean House in the Spring of 2013.
