It's always a treat when Hale Centre Theatre in West Valley produces a regional premiere of a show direct from Broadway, and especially one that didn't make it to Utah on tour. The production values are always stellar, and 9 to 5 the Musical is no exception.

A Utahn's First Broadway Experience
A Utahn's First Broadway Experience
July 11, 2012

One of my favorite things in life was the Broadway musical, but I'd never actually seen one. I had seen school and community and regional productions of musicals with Broadway origins. I had seen Equity and non-Equity tours that replicated Broadway staging. I had even had the incredible opportunities to see the pre-Broadway tryouts of The Little Mermaid and Shrek the Musical with their original star-studded casts in Denver and Seattle, respectively. But not on Broadway.

BWW Reviews: Pioneer Theatre Company's MAN OF LA MANCHA is Transcendent
May 9, 2012

From the moment the audience is seated at Pioneer Theatre Company's Man of La Mancha, it is evident that this is no run-of-the-mill production of the show. A massive metal portcullis replaces the stage curtains, with the prison behind it sumptuously lit and enlivened by fog undulating through the shafts of light. It is a striking visual representation of what director Charles Morey (in his last show as the theatre's artistic director) has done to elevate and illuminate the material.
