Westport Community Theatre announces auditions for Angel Street, a thriller by Patrick Hamilton, directed by Alexander Kulcsar.

Acclaimed Polish theatre company Song of the Goat Theatre begins its first ever UK tour with a new production of Macbeth at the Point, Eastleigh on October 6th, 2010. The production will also tour to Birmingham, Cambridge, Manchester, London and Brighton.

Cameron Mackintosh's current touring production of Les Miserables will run at London's Barbican Theatre, it's English-language birthplace in 1985, for 22 performances through October 2, 2010. A Queens Theatre staple for nearly 22 years in the West End, this new run will mark the first time in London that the same musical has run simultaneously.

Children's Theatre of Charlotte will hold open auditions for 'Scrooge!' on Tuesday, October 5 and Wednesday, October 6, from 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm. The musical adaptation of 'A Christmas Carol,' 'Scrooge!' features all of the wonderful characters and spirits from Charles Dickens' classic tale. Professional roles are available for adult actors of varying ages who can sing and dance. Roles are also available for young actors grades 5 and up, offering the unique opportunity to perform in a professional setting with professional actors.

Mike + Ruthy's Folk City, the new 4th-Wednesday series at Cornelia Street Cafe, will debut with a festival-style evening of new talent! Rusty Belle, from Northampton, MA, will be bringing their backporch-slash-granny's-attic-inspired hootenanny, Brooklyn balladeer Jefferson Hamer will alternately shred and wail, and Nina Violet 'a modern, funky Edith Piaf' will draw you into her beautiful world of indie folk. In a grand finale, they'll all join Mike + Ruthy on the cafe's small stage for what promises to be an epic jam.

Composer Dana P. Rowe, Director John Simpkins, and Actor Stephen Bienskie (recipient of a Helen Hayes Award for his performance in the 1998 production) will be participating in a pre-show discussion prior to the 10/4 performance of The Fix. The event will take place at New York University's Frederick Loewe Theatre on Monday, October 4 at 6:30 pm and will be held in conjunction with that evening's 8 pm performance. The pre-show discussion has no additional admission price, but a ticket for the 8pm performance is required. That evening is also 'Industry Night' at NYU's production. The general public is welcome - but anyone attending that presents a theatrical union card will be admitted free for any or all of the evening.

The American Museum of Natural History will unveil the Kazanjian Red Diamond for public view on Wednesday, September 22, in the Museum's Morgan Memorial Hall of Gems. The Kazanjian Red Diamond is an extraordinary 5.05-carat red gem, that will be on display at the Museum through Sunday, March 13, 2011.

Westport Community Theatre kicks off the 55th Anniversary Season with 'Enter Laughing,' a heartfelt, heartwarming relatable coming-of-age comedy that just happens to tell the story of writer, actor, director Carl Reiner's early days in show business. Opening weekend performances are Friday, September 24 and Saturday, September 25 at 8:00 PM, and Sunday, September 26 at 2:00 PM.

Commencing with a free concert at Auer Hall Oct. 5 at 8 p.m., Janette Fishell, chair of the Organ Department at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, will present 'The Seasons of Sebastian: The solo works of Johann Sebastian Bach,' a three-year cycle of 21 free, open-to-the-public Bach organ performances that take place at various locations on campus and churches in the Bloomington community. The works are organized into 'secular' -- the seasons of Bach's life, performed on the IU campus -- and the 'spiritual' seasons of his faith, performed at area churches, with some 'cross-pollination' to keep each concert as artistically significant as possible.

Theatre503 presents The Charming Man, a political satire by Gabriel Bisset-Smith, directed by Paul Robinson. The Charming Man will run from October 19 to November 13, 2010. Press Night is Friday, October 22 at 7:45 p.m.
