Composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz and Kerry Ellis, current star of the Broadway smash WICKED, dressed as the show's green heroine, Elphaba, The Wicked Witch of The West, lit the Empire State Building green on Monday, October 27 at 12:00PM. Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown, composer/lyricist of the new musical '13', hosted '13 Questions' - a series of audience Q & A's - immediately following the 7pm performance on Tuesday, October 21st. Special co-hosts for the evening included 13's casting director, Mark Simon, 'fabulous' members of Broadway's first all teenage cast and band and other members of 13's creative staff.

The 'Steinberg Distinguished Playwright Award' was presented to Tony Kushner at a ceremony on Tuesday, October 21, at 620 Loft & Garden at Rockefeller Center. The honor comes with a cash prize of $200,000, making this by far the largest award ever created to honor and encourage artistic achievement in the American theater. Mr. Kushner was also presented with 'The Mimi,' a statue designed by Tony Award-nominated scenic designer and architect David Rockwell.

The Off-Broadway premiere of BASIC TRAINING, a new comedy created by and starring Kahlil Ashanti officially opened last night, October 13th. BASIC TRAINING is a hilarious story based on one soldier's outrageous experience in the U.S. Air Force and will play the Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow St. at 7th Avenue, 1 block south of Christopher Street). Performances began September 26th.

On Monday, October 6 at 8:00 p.m. in Zankel Hall, The Carnegie Hall Notables hosted REVIVAL: Broadway's Next Act, a panel discussion focusing on the fresh approach that composers have recently introduced to Broadway, attracting audiences through a new range of media, from YouTube to MTV.
