Nicole Rosky

Nicole is the Editor-in-Chief of BroadwayWorld, where she began her journey as an intern in 2010. As BroadwayWorld's Senior Managing Editor, a role she took on in 2012, she covered over a decade's-worth of theatre and live entertainment in New York City and around the world. Throughout her time with BroadwayWorld, Nicole has worked extensively with the photo and video team, producing (and sometimes editing) a great deal of the site's original programming, including Backstage with Richard Ridge, Dance Captain Dance Attack, Next on Stage, Kid Critics, and Teen Critics, just to name a few. Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she is a proud graduate of Penn State University's College of Communications. Nicole currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where she gets to enjoy far more great theatre than she ever dreamed. Her first great role was "Billy Flynn" in her fourth grade musical theatre class. Oh, how far she has come!

  • Tony Nominee Reactions - I have had the pleasure of covering every Tony Awards season since 2011 and one of my favorite parts is hearing from the nominees just moments after they find out that they ARE nominees.
  • Theatre Queens - When I'm not at a Broadway show, you'll find me at home, catching up on the latest episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race. I've had a blast chatting with many of the queens who call theatre their first love.
  • Broadway Jukebox - I love a good playlist and I find myself making them OFTEN. I've curated over 100 musical theatre playlists for BroadwayWorld (my personal favorite is "Female Anthems of Broadway"). Give them a listen and follow BroadwayWorld on Spotify to find out what I come up with next!
  • Broadway By Design - I created this series after realizing how little information is shared about the theatrical design process and it has become one of my favorite ongoing features.
  • Next On Stage - Working on this project and having the opportunity to spotlight so many talented young people from around the country has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.

York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) has announced the casts for Oh, Coward! and The Mad Show, the next titles in its Summer 2011 Musicals in Mufti Series-the York's acclaimed series of musical theatre gems in staged concert performances. The concerts will run from July 15-17 and July 29-31, respectively. La MaMa, the world-renowned downtown theatre founded by the late Ellen Stewart, will celebrate is 50th anniversary season in 2011-12 -- entitled 'Homecomings' - with a two day celebration on October 16th and 17th 2011: The La MaMa 50 World Block Party and The La MaMa 50 Gala. The festivities kick off with the La MaMa 50 World Block Party on Sunday, October 16 from 2 to 6pm on the block of East 4th Street (between the Bowery and Second Avenue in Manhattan) that is home to La MaMa's three performance spaces, and where Ms. Stewart herself resided for many years before her death in January 2011.

Laura Bell Bundy is set to star in 'The Mat'- a made-for-TV wrestling movie opposite Ricky Schroder. Bundy told Taste of Country about the project: 'It's the first time I played an uptight, New York business person [in a movie], which is ironic because Ricky is from Brooklyn, and I'm from Kentucky. He was playing the southerner, and I was playing the New Yorker [laughs]! We had crossed accents.'

On July 28, Trading Spaces star and Broadway veteran Paige Davis and Volunteers of America (VOA) Greater New York volunteers will help sort and stuff backpacks and school suppliesat Operation Backpack's 'Sort Day'. VOA's Operation Backpack drive aims to help 9,000 children in New York area shelters, so they can begin the school year with confidence, feeling more like their housed classmates. Children and parents who benefitted from the program will be on hand and Department of Homeless Services Commissioner Seth Diamond will also be available.

According to the Evening Standard, theatre legend Andrew Lloyd Webber will award 10 scholarships for performers going to college for music and drama. The Weekend Arts College, which just lost its Arts Council grant will also receive funding from Lloyd Webber to go towards employing arts tutors.

GLEE was a big hit at this year's Comic-Con yesterday, July 24. The event featured a sneak peek at never-before-seen GLEE footage and behind-the-scenes secrets, followed by a Q&A session in which fans asked everything they ever wanted to know about the Golden Globe-winning series. Darren Criss, Harry Shum Jr., Jenna Ushkowitz, and Dot Marie Jones represented the cast, greeting thousands of fans. Co-creators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, as well as producers Dante di Loreto and Zack Woodlee and GLEE in 3D director Evin Tancharoen were there for the production team.
