Today in 1983, Baby opened at the Ethel barrymore Theatre, where it ran for 241 performances. Baby is a musical with a book by Sybille Pearson, based on a story developed with Susan Yankowitz, music by David Shire, and lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr.. It concerns the reactions of three couples each expecting a child. Lizzie and Danny are university juniors who have just moved in together. Athletic Pam and her husband, Nick, a sports instructor, have had some trouble conceiving. Arlene, already the mother of three grown daughters, is unsure of what to do, contemplating abortion while her husband Alan is thrilled with the thought of a new baby. Throughout the show, these characters experience the emotional stresses and triumphs, the desperate lows and the comic highs, that accompany the anticipation and arrival of a baby.

Troika Entertainment has just announced the cast for the first national tour of the international hit, Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical. Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical launches its national tour on January 8 in Minneapolis, MN at the Orpheum Theatre.

According to TVLand.com, stage and screen star Denis O'Hare will return to 'Law & Order,' this time in SVU as 'Father Shea.' O'Hare previously played the role in 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent,' in 2008. The episode will air in January.

Due to the overwhelming success of the one-night performance of the hit Off-Broadway musical revue, Starting Here, Starting Now, with lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr. and music by David Shire, The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) has added two encore performances on Sunday evenings, December 9th & 16th at 7:30 p.m. at The York Theatre at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

An all new Christmas CD Recording titled A VERY BROADWAY CHRISTMAS will feature a host of Broadway Stars to support the Dr. Carol Channing-Harry Kullijian Foundation For The Arts in its mission to promote the arts in public education. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this CD will go directly to support schools in Union Beach, New Jersey who lost all of their musical instruments after Hurricane Sandy and have been forced to cancel their music classes and programs indefinitely.

SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark is now in its 2nd smash year on Broadway, and has been seen by more than 1 million audience members from around the world. Today in 1960, Camelot opened at the Majestic Theatre, where it ran for 873 performances. Camelot is a musical by Alan Jay Lerner (book and lyrics) and Frederick Loewe (music). It is based on the King Arthur legend as adapted from the T. H. White tetralogy novel The Once and Future King. The original 1960 production, directed by Moss Hart and orchestrated by Robert Russell Bennett and Philip J. Lang, won four Tony Awards and spawned several revivals, foreign productions and a 1967 film version.
