The pair discussed preparing for the ceremony while simultaneously starring in Broadway shows, how they feel representing the Broadway community, and teased what audiences can expect from their opening number.

BroadwayWorld's Richard Ridge sat down with Ariana DeBose to discuss hosting the 75th Annual Tony Awards this Sunday, June 12. DeBose discussed the rehearsal process for the ceremony, what audiences can expect from the performances, why she's 'terrified' to host, and more.

'It's extraordinary to have the recognition,' explained Marianne. 'I was overwhelmed working with Stephen Sondheim, so I couldn't believe that he got so involved and seemed to have such a lovely time working with us over the years.'

'The greatest joy is the young people in [our] cast,' said Jayne. 'Those kids are amazing. Their work ethic is impeccable, but it's done out of complete joy.'

'We get to hold a mirror up to the audience and they get to see themselves onstage in such a real way,' explained Sidney. 'Although it's set in 1863, I think it has such relevance today.'

'After the first rehearsal was the only time in my life that I relaxed,' said Paula. '[The cast] was so brilliant around the table doing the reading. I was like, 'Vogel, you have nothing to do than wear the sandwich board on the street.''

'Every night I walk into my dressing room and see [Stephen Sondheim's] pictures,' explained jennifer. 'I can't believe it. I pinch myself that I get this privilege to do this.'

'I feel so fortunate, because I knew that I wanted to [sing 'Not Getting Married Today'] every night,' explained Matt. 'But I feel like I've been given the greatest gift ever.'

Today we're studying up on Warren Carlyle! 'I went back the other day to a matinee. Seeing so many families, I was very moved by that,' explained Warren. 'From five years old to grandpa. They all want to see The Music Man!'

'Knowing that I was able to be a part of this play in this time is one of the most proud moments in my entire theatrical career,' she explained about the play.

Nick Arnstein might get all of Fanny's love, but this Broadway season, the Tony Awards are all about Eddie Ryan. Jared Grimes makes his Broadway musical debut in the hit revival of Funny Girl- a performance for which he was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical.

Mrs. Doubtfire might have already taken its final bow, but the legacy of the show lives on this awards season in the Tony-nominated performance from its leading man- Rob McClure.

Michael Oberholtzer might play the most controversial character in Second Stage's revival of Take Me Out, but there is nothing controversial about his performance, for which he was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play. 

Jesse Tyler Ferguson has been a treasured member of the Broadway community since his debut in the 1998 revival on On the Town. This season he returns to the stage as 'Mason' in Second Stage's revival of Take Me Out, in a performance which has earned him a career first- a Tony nomination!

Immediately following a nomination for her work in Slave Play, Joaquina Kalukango is a Tony nominee once again- this time, for her standing ovation-earning performance in Paradise Sqaure.
