Monk won the Tony Award in 1993 for REDWOOD CURTAIN and was nominated for Tony Awards in 1997 and 2007 for both STEEL PIER and CURTAINS.

Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere of The Madrid, the new play by Liz Flahive, directed by Leigh Silverman began previews February 5 at 7 PM at MTC at New York City Center- Stage I (131 West 55th Street) in preparation for a Tuesday, February 26 opening night. Cameron Mackintosh and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group announced earlier today that their spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera will launch a North American tour beginning this November in Providence, R.I at the Providence Performing Arts Center. With newly reinvented staging and stunning scenic design, this new version of PHANTOM, the most successful musical of all-time, will play more than 20 multi-week engagements through next year, including Cincinnati, OH and Minneapolis, MN. A complete tour schedule will be announced in the coming weeks. First unveiled in March, 2012 in Plymouth, England, this reinvented PHANTOM has been an enormous box-office and critical hit throughout the U.K. Check out photos and highlights from the newly imagined production below!

Manhattan Theatre Club presents the world premiere production of Richard Greenberg's THE ASSEMBLED PARTIES. Directed by MTC's award-winning Artistic Director Lynne Meadow, the cast features Tony nominee Jessica Hecht, Tony and Emmy Award winner Judith Light, Tony Award nominee Jeremy Shamos, Obie Award winner Mark Blum, Lauren Blumenfeld (We Are Proud to Present...), Alex Dreier (Billy Elliot), Jake Silbermann ('As The World Turns'), and Jonathan Walker (The Divine Sister). Two-time Tony Nominee Christine Andreas, Tony Nominee Emily Skinner, Drama Desk Nominees Kerry O'Malley and Jeffry Denman, and two-time Nightlife Award Winner Scott Coulter will star in The Broadway Musicals of 1961 at Town Hall on Monday, March 11th at 8 PM. The critically-acclaimed new Broadway by the Year Chorus will join them in performing songs from Carnival, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Subways Are For Sleeping, Sail Away, Milk and Honey, and more! The concert will be directed and choreographed by Jeffry Denman; the Broadway by the Year Chorus is under the direction of Scott Coulter; musical direction will be by Ross Patterson. The show, as always, will be written and hosted by series creator Scott Siegel.

The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel brings the late night, downtown vibe to the Upper East Side with its new "Second Act, A Late Night Series of Fun and Entertainment" at the Cafe Carlyle. The new series begins March 1st in the iconic cabaret room and will host the series of performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturdaynights at 10:45pm, following performances of the Cafe Carlyle's regularly scheduled season lineup. Stacy Sullivan will kick off the Second Act Series, followed by Jo Thompsonand "Midnight at Gatsbys: The F. Scott Fitzgerald Songbook."

Tony Award winner Alice Ripley stars in 'Isn't It Delicious,' alongside Keir Dullea, Mia Dillon, Kathleen Chalfant and Malachy McCourt. The film is 'Isn't It Delicious' is described as a black comedy about a loving but dysfunctional Catholic, upper-middle-class family gathering after it learns its controlling matriarch is dying of cancer. The cast of Gerard Alessandrini's FORBIDDEN BROADWAY: ALIVE AND KICKING! will be performing parodies of Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and Russell Crowe in the film Les Miserables on Good Day New York on Wednesday, February 27,2013 in the 9'oclock hour. The hit musical at the 47th Street Theatre (304 West 47th Street - just west of Eighth Avenue) continues through April 28th and is co-directed by Phillip George. Time Magazine and the Associated Press recently awarded FORBIDDEN BROADWAY: ALIVE AND KICKING! spots on their Top Ten Lists, with Time Magazine making it their Top Musical pick for 2012. Prospect Theater Company (Cara Reichel, Producing Artistic Director / Melissa Huber, Managing Director) will present eight new musical shorts by some of NYC's most exciting emerging musical theater writers, the result of work created in the company's 6th annual musical theater lab.

Actors' Equity Association (AEA or Equity), the labor union representing more than 49,000 professional stage actors and stage managers in the US, today received an historic national charter in its centennial year from the AFL-CIO. The direct charter, which was given at the morning session of the AFL-CIO Executive Council meeting, makes AEA the 57th labor organization to receive the distinguished honor of formal association with the national federation of American unions.

New City Stage Company presents the Philadelphia professional premiere of HURLYBURLY by David Rabe this week. The show is staged by Barrymore Award winning director James J. Christy and features Russ Widdall of HBO's 'The Wire.' This award-winning play is the third professional production of New City Stage's 7th season, entitled 'The New American Dysfunctional Family'. This is the first time the show is receiving a professional production in the greater Philadelphia area. Performances begin this Thursday, February 28, and run throught through March 24, 2013 at the Adrienne Theater Main Stage at 2030 Sansom Street in downtown Philadelphia. For its 21st annual Spring Gala, the Kennedy Center will present My Fair Lady in Concert on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 8 p.m. in the Concert Hall. The famed 1956 musical features book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner with music by Frederick Loewe and will be directed and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Marcia Milgrom Dodge. The concert staging will be accompanied by the 35-piece Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra conducted by Music Director James Moore.

Performances begin tonight for Signature Theatre's (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) production of THE MOUND BUILDERS written by Lanford Wilson and directed by Jo Bonney. The production will open March 17 and play through April 7 in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

The Actors Fund's annual gala on Monday, April 29, 2013 at the New York Marriott Marquis will honor Academy Award-winning actor Robert De Niro, the pay television company HBO and entrepreneur/film producer and Fund trustee Steve Kalafer. The trio will receive the Medal of Honor, the highest award from the 130-year old non-profit human services organization.

Today in 2004, Fiddler on the Roof opened at the Minskoff Theatre, where it ran for 781 performances. Fiddler on the Roof is a musical with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, set in Tsarist Russia in 1905. It is based on Tevye and his Daughters (or Tevye the Milkman and Other Tales) by Sholem Aleichem. The story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and Jewish religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives. The original Broadway production of the show, which opened in 1964, had the first musical theatre run in history to surpass 3,000 performances.
