Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman's Pulitzer Prize-winning play YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU just opened last night, September 28, 2014, at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street), after 32 previews. The production is directed by six-time Tony Award-nominee and Drama Desk Award winnerScott Ellis (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Twelve Angry Men, 1776) and will play a 19-week limited engagement. As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, in reaction to a piece written by New York Post journalist Michael Riedel criticizing the new musical Finding Neverland, the producers of the show found out that Riedel had not seen the show and had been writing speculatively.

The new world premiere dark comedy MONEY GRUBBIN' WHORES, written by Sean J. Quinn and directed by Brian Cichocki, will open tomorrow, Tuesday, September 30 at The Lion Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street). This weekend saw a record breaking twenty-five former and current Billy Elliots come together on stage in a specially choreographed mash-up finale of Billy Elliot the Musical. At a unique performance, broadcast live to eight countries from the show's West End home at the Victoria Palace Theatre, all three original Billy Elliots - James Lomas, George Maguire and Liam Mower - took part in the spectacular finale. Two special screenings of Billy Elliot the Musical Live also took place at the historic Easington Social Welfare Centre, formerly the Easington Colliery Miners' Institute, one of the settings for Billy's inspiring story. Where have the 50 years gone? Academy Award® nominee Lesley Ann Warren - who was all of 18 years old when CBS-TV selected her as its CINDERELLA for the famed 1965 telecast of Rodgers + Hammerstein's CINDERELLA - joined the cast of the current Broadway company on stage to perform a number from the musical at the conclusion of the September 23rd performance. Miss Warren's CINDERELLA was such a success for CBS that the musical aired once each year for 8 years until 1974. Miss Warren's appearance coincides with the 50th anniversary release of the telecast. The Divine Miss M is back! Billboard.com reports exclusively today that Bette Midler will release her first studio album in eight years, 'It's the Girls,' featuring songs from female groups who have had the greatest influence on her throughout her career. The album will drop on Nov. 4 via Warner Bros. Records (Nov. 10 in the UK via East West Records/Warner Music UK.)
