The Modern Beethoven: A Philharmonic Festival conducted by David Zinman will take place March 1-20, 2012. The opening program will comprise Beethoven's Symphonies Nos. 2 and 7, and Stravinsky's Capriccio for Piano and Orchestra, with Peter Serkin as soloist, Thursday, March 1, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 2, at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 3, at 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m.

Ranging from the folly-filled leisure grounds of an eighteenth century chateau to the 'corporate arcadias' which occupy the atriums of many post-1960s office towers, both artists engage the histories of garden architecture and its attendant fantasies of nature, enlightenment, contemplation, antiquity, leisure, and utopia.

This unique piece will be a combination of lecture and performance, as McNeal shares her story of female African American jazz singers and performs selections of their music. Reanae will perform in the Alabama Power Recital Hall at Shelton State Community College's Martin Campus.

From February 22 to 24, 2012, EarShot (the National Orchestral Composition Discovery Network) and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO), JoAnn Falletta, Music Director, will present the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra New Music Readings at Kleinhans Music Hall (3 Symphony Circle, Buffalo). On Thursday, February 23 at 7pm at Kleinhans Hall, the public will have the opportunity for a behind-the-scenes look at the process of bringing brand new orchestral works to life, as music by the four selected composers is read by the BPO under the baton of associate conductor, Matthew Kraemer.

Directed by Ethan McSweeny, the cast features Michael Bakkensen, Marylouise Burke, Marin Hinkle, Stephen Kunken, Paul Niebanck, and Elizabeth Rich. Rx will have set design by Lee Savage, costume design by Andrea Lauer, lighting design by Matthew Richards, original music and sound design by Lindsay Jones, and prop supervision by Faye Armon. Long-standing audience favorites, Organ Plus! Recitals celebrate the versatility of the organ with various combinations of instruments. The program on March 4 features works for organ, violin, harp and cello by Boccherini, Lalo, Grandjany, Franck, Bloch, Vierne, Duruflé, Mahler and more.
