THE DRAWER BOY to Conclude Buffalo Theatre Ensemble's Season, 7/13-7/29April 3, 2012Buffalo Theatre Ensemble (BTE) concludes the season with Michael Healey's THE DRAWER BOY at the McAninch Arts Center, at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn, Ill. July 13 - 29. THE DRAWER BOY directed by Ensemble member Kurt Naebig, features BTE Ensemble actor Robert Jordan Bailey (Angus), and guest artists Chicago's Jacob Abbas (Miles) and Indian Head Park's Jonathan Kraft (Morgan). Surprisingly funny, tender but tough, THE DRAWER BOY tells the story of two Canadian famers living in self-imposed isolation, who have their lives thrown into confusion by a young actor. The actor asks to observe their routines to prepare for a play when he unwittingly happens on a long-hidden personal story that shaped the lives of the two older men.
Director Beata Pitch Awarded Artist Residency in ParisApril 3, 2012The Trap Door Theatre has announced that Artistic Director Beata Pilch has been selected for an Artist Residency at the Program Cite Internationale des Arts-Home of foreign artists in France. Pilch was the only person from the United States to be selected for this honor, as well as the only theatre artist. During her three month long residency in Paris, beginning in April, Pilch will network with French actors, playwrights and directors to seek out new productions to bring to Chicago.
This residency was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Cultural services of the French Embassy in Chicago and New York.
Hampstead Theatre Presents World Premier of CHARIOTS OF FIRE, May 9 - June 12 April 3, 2012The Hampstead Theatre has announced the world premiere of CHARIOTS OF FIRE. Award-winning playwright Mike Bartlett brings the Olympic story to the stage for the first time in a new adaptation inspired by Colin Welland's original screenplay. Directed by Hampstead Theatre's Artistic Director Edward Hall, CHARIOTS OF FIRE will be performed on a spectacular set by award-winning designer Miriam Buether, which transforms Hampstead Theatre into a stadium, making an immersive experience that evokes the 1924 Paris games. The production will also feature the legendary music of the Vangelis score with additional live music and arrangements by Tony Award-winning composer Jason Carr.
