Sobini Films announced today that Oscar®-nominee James Cromwell, two-time Oscar®-nominee Bruce Dern and award-winning actress Naturi Naughton have joined Dayo Okeniyi in the cast in the Civil War-era EMPEROR, directed by Mark Amin, the veteran producer and former Vice Chairman of Lionsgate. Harry Lennix, Kat Graham, Ben Robson and Keean Johnson have also joined to round out the cast. Cromwell and Dern will play John Brown and Levi Coffin, respectively, two of the great heroes of the American abolitionist movement. Naughton plays the role of "Sarah Green," the wife of abolitionist and runaway slave Shields Green. The film is produced by Reginald Hudlin for Hudlin Entertainment and by Cami Winikoff and Amin for Sobini, with a script co-written by Amin and Pat Charles. Sobini's Tyler Boehm is executive producing. UTA is handling domestic sales. EMPEROR is currently in production in Savannah, Georgia.

BMI recently presented country hitmaker Max T. Barnes with four “Million-Air” Awards, which includes one for his late father, Max D. Barnes' “Chiseled In Stone,” which reached one million broadcasts. Kali Uchis confirms a North American headline tour today, with dates kicking off Thursday, September 13 in Seattle and further stops in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Austin, Philadelphia, Boston and beyond. Today on World Refugee Day, public television's WORLD Channel announces the lineup of films for season 3 of Doc World, a series that showcases stories that dive deep into the heart of international issues, giving viewers a chance to understand the lives and concerns of people beyond U.S. borders. The first three films of the season entitled: Sky and Ground, Los Comandos, and Towards the North, all follow refugees fleeing their homes in search of asylum.

Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema announced today its film lineup of 110 films and the news that Regal Entertainment Group has signed on to become the lead sponsor for the 2nd annual 10-day event in Queens. While the festival organizers are saddened to leave the Kew Gardens Cinemas in Kew Gardens, they are very excited for what this means for the future of the film festival. For it's sophomore year, Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema will be moving into its new home at Regal Entertainment Group's UA Midway Stadium 9 in Forest Hills, Queens. From August 3rd to August 11th guests can enjoy films exhibited by state of the art projection and sound equipment in the comfort of Midway's recliner seats. The Opening Night Film at the Midway will be the New York Premiere of Ari Gold's award-winning and critically acclaimed “The Song of Sway Lake” starring Rory Culkin on Friday, Aug. 3rd at 6:30pm. On Sunday, August 12th, the festival's Awards Dinner Gala returns to Terrace on the Park in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.

According to Deadline, Ben Daniels has joined the cast of Netflix's “The Crown” for its third season, playing the husband of Princess Margaret, Antony Armstrong-Jones.

On its 3rd telecast, Freeform's “Marvel's Cloak & Dagger” hit a new series high in Women 18-34 (166,000/0.48 rating), spiking by 19% over the prior week's debut (140,000/0.40 rating on 6/7/18 at 9:00 p.m.). In addition, “Marvel's Cloak & Dagger” grew week to week among Women 18-49 (+1% - 335,000/0.52 rating vs. 331,000/0.51 rating) to its second best performance.  

HBO has entered into a deal with Charlamagne Tha God to bring his distinctive voice to the network in a series of four interview specials, it was announced today by Nina Rosenstein, executive vice president, HBO Programming.
