iHeartMedia announced today the lineup for the Daytime Village at the iHeartCountry Festival Presented by Makers of Accu-Chek on Saturday, May 5 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. CT at Frank Erwin Center's North Box Office Plaza in Austin, Texas. The free daytime event will feature live performances by Luke Combs, Brett Young, Lauren Alaina, Dylan Scott and Danielle Bradbery. On May 18, Paul McCartney will release four 2018 edition catalogue reissues via MPL/Capitol: NEW, Chaos And Creation In The Backyard, Wings Greatest and Thrillington. All four titles will be issued in affordable single CD digipak and 180gram black vinyl single LP formats—and will be made available for the first time in limited edition 180gram color vinyl pressings. Masterpieces were confiscated, destined for art space Hitler planned to turn into the Louvre of Linz (a project that would remain on paper only), as well as to Carinhall, a private residence belonging to Goering, the other major protagonist in the sacking of Europe.  It is estimated that works of art seized from German Museums totalled over 16.000 and 5 million all over Europe. Artists on the black list were Max Beckmann, Paul Klee, Oskar Kokoschka, Otto Dix, Marc Chagall, El Lissitzky. Written on the walls were comments such as: “Incompetent charlatans”, “An insult to the German Heroes of the Great War”, “Decadence exploited for literary and commercial purposes”. The exhibition on ”degenerate art” was taken on tour to 12 cities in Austria and Germany to set an example. Around 2 million people visited it.

Blue Note Hawaii welcomes some of music's most renowned artists this month, kicking off with the 60th birthday celebration of Loretta Ables Sayre with special guest star Robert Cazimero. The Hawaii News Now Jazz Legends series continues with Freddy Cole, one of the most influential jazz singers in history and the younger brother of musical icon Nat “King” Cole. Local favorite and the 2017 GRAMMY® Award winner from Hawaii Kalani Pe'a is up next, followed by genre-bending blues and bluegrass artists Dirty Cello. Blayne Asing & Alx Kawakami join forces for two nights and innovative African artist Vieux Farka Touré has his Blue Note Hawaii debut. Streetlight Cadence returns home to Hawaii for two nights, followed by artist in residence, Robert Cazimero. Next up is a round of local talent with shows by Keauhou, Josh Tatofi and Makana, which is a fundraiser for the Willie K Cancer Fund. Mike Lewis continues his series of tribute shows paying homage to Ray Charles, Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, the music of Roberta Flack, as well as presenting a Big Band Extravaganza, featuring some of the area's most talented high school and collegiate level jazz bands. Gypsy 808 will present the music of Django Reinhardt and the month ends with a bang when HIROSHIMA returns to the Blue Note stage.

Today the Franco-American Cultural Fund have announced that Mélanie Laurent will be honored as their “Focus on a Filmmaker” at the COLCOA French Film Festival.  Additionally, they have announced the five films that comprise the “COLCOA Classic Series.” These selections will be presented as part of COLCOA's 22nd edition, which will run Monday, April 23 through Monday, April 30, with all screenings taking place at the Directors Guild of America.   All films in the COLCOA Classics are free to the public. The complete line-up including films and series competing for the COLCOA Awards 2018 will be announced on April 3rd.
