Golden Globe and SAG winner Idris Elba will star, direct and produce the currently untitled film, a modern retelling of Victor Hugo's “Hunchback of Notre Dame” for Netflix. The feature film will be a sonic and musical experience for which Elba will also produce the music.

Grammy-nominated musician Grace Potter announced today the lineup for the 2018 Grand Point North music festival set to take place September 15 and 16 at Burlington, Vermont's Waterfront Park. Joining Potter on this year's lineup are Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, The Magpie Salute, Caroline Rose, Darlingside, Mt. Joy, Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds and Greg Holden.

Texas' genre-bending rock 'n' roller Israel Nash announces the release of his fifth studio album, Lifted, on July 27th, 2018 via Desert Folklore Music/Thirty Tigers. Debuting the album's first single “Rolling On” with Magnet Magazine, they describe, “The ethereal ode to perseverance neatly encapsulates the ambitious sonic direction and pronounced optimism of the LP as a whole, which marries the steel-guitar-drenched psychedelic country/folk vibe of his last two releases with layers of echoey '60s-pop classicism.” The track acts as the album's manifesto, an anthem of urgency, encouraging the listener to let go of yesterday's troubles and move forward with positivity. Raphael Saadiq recently announced his first headline tour in several years. Today, he announced that his longtime friend and Lucy Pearl bandmate Ali Shaheed Muhammad (A Tribe Called Quest)--who recently announced new album TheMidnight Hour with Adrian Younge and featuring Saadiq, among other noteworthy musicians--will support him on several dates of the summer run. Flint, MI musician & activist Tunde Olaniran will also join the pair at Detroit's MOCAD. In addition to his headline dates, musician and producer Saadiq is set to perform at Chicago'sPitchfork Festival (read 'The Meaning of Soul Music According to Raphael Saadiq' via the 2017 Pitchfork here). The tour dates come as the Oscar-nominated Grammy-winner finishes work on his much-anticipated fifth solo album and first since 2011's Stone Rollin'.

On Saturday, June 2, Rooftop Films will return to Green-Wood Cemetery for the New York Premiere of the hilarious Western-comedy Damsel. The evening will feature live music and an after-party with drinks from Corona Extra, Ketel One Family Made Vodka, and Fever-Tree. Filmmakers David and Nathan Zellner will be in attendance for a post-screening Q&A.

Craft Recordings is pleased to announce two special reissues from Creedence Clearwater Revival's Doug Clifford and Tom Fogerty. The two helped make up CCR's distinctive 'chooglin' rhythm section, roles that, along with John Fogerty and Stu Cook, earned them a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Besides being members of the Greatest American Rock Band, they each recorded solo albums. Tom Fogerty's Excalibur and Doug Clifford's Doug 'Cosmo' Clifford were both originally released in 1972 and have been long out-of-print until now. These reissues, pressed on 180-gram vinyl from lacquers cut at Fantasy Studios by George Horn and Anne-Marie Suenram, are essential additions to the record collection of any Creedence aficionado.
