Re-branded comedy powerhouse National Lampoon (“NL”) has partnered with Stage 32 to launch a brand new Comedy Screenwriting Competition for 2018, it was announced today. Brooklyn's favorite FREE Film and Concert Series will return this summer to McCarren Park for its 13th consecutive year! Taking place every Wednesday in July and August, the weekly event will screen eight films in the park and will offer food, beverage and live music. Screenings kick off Wednesday, July 11th. 

 The Recording Academy announced today that President/CEO Neil Portnow will begin preparing for a leadership transition after choosing not to seek an extension on his current contract, which expires in July 2019. Portnow shared his plans at the Recording Academy's semi-annual Board of Trustees meeting last week. Throughout the next year, Portnow will work with the Board to chart out an organizational succession and transition plan, while continuing his current work as active President/CEO of the Recording Academy and MusiCares®, and Chair of the Board of the GRAMMY Museum®.

ABC's “The View” averaged 2.596 million Total Viewers, 414,000 Women 25-54 and 285,000 Women 18-49, during the week of May 21, 2018, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “The View” beat CBS' “The Talk” (2.252 million, 399,000  and 276,000, respectively) during the week in Total Viewers (+344,000), Women 25-54 (+15,000) and Women 18-49 (+9,000).  “The View” increased its Total Viewer lead versus the “The Talk” both week to week (vs. +326,000 for w/o 5/14/18) and year to year (vs. +13,000 for w/o 5/22/17).

 KCRW and the Hammer Museum team up once again to present three nights of live music and DJ sets as part of KCRW's Summer Nights series, Thursdays, July 12, 19, and 26. This year's series features Cut Chemist, Kauf, Still Woozy, Sam Evian, Neil Frances, and KCRW DJs Jeremy Sole, Valida, and Anthony Valadez. All concerts are free, open to the public, all-ages, and held outdoors in the Hammer's lively courtyard. The museum's galleries will be open late so guests can enjoy the Hammer's acclaimed biennial exhibition Made in L.A. 2018.

ANN WILSON of HEART, one of rock's most distinctive and powerful vocalists, will release her new solo album September 14 on BMG, marking her debut for the label. Multi-platinum country music star Sara Evans will receive the 2018 Service to America Leadership Award from the NAB Education Foundation (NABEF). Evans will receive the award at NABEF's Celebration of Service to America Awards on June 12 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.
