Spotlight Initiative Award Winners Announced for 2011 Toronto International Film Festival

The Creative Coalition is pleased to announce that Ashley Greene (Butter, Twilight), Anna Kendrick (50/50, Up in the Air), David Paymer (Twixt, The American President), Morgan Spurlock (Comic Con: Episode IV - A Fan's Hope, Super Size Me) and Roland Emmerich (Anonymous, 2012) have been named as honorees for the 2011 Spotlight Initiative Awards. The awards will be bestowed to honorees during the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.

Julien's Auctions, the world's premier entertainment and celebrity memorabilia auction house will offer a rare glimpse into the life of Hollywood's most colorful stars, Tony Curtis. The rare Hollywood star whose off-screen character was often more sensational than his on-screen one, lived a life that could be its own movie or television series. Curtis' career spanned six decades with popularity during the 1950s and 1960s enabling him to transpose his good looks into super movie stardom. He acted in over 100 films ranging from light comedy to serious drama and he also made numerous television appearances.

Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee- Producing Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt-Managing Director) will host a Newsies Fan Day at the Millburn theater on Sunday, October 2nd. Newsies Fan Day is an opportunity for Newsies fans nationwide to celebrate this cult phenomenon. Participants will have the opportunity to attend a Newsies Fan Reception at 5pm in the Renee Foosaner Art Gallery on the campus of Paper Mill Playhouse. At 6:00pm, there will be a Newsies Cast Talk-Back where both the stage cast and members of the film cast will discuss Newsies. The Newsies Fan Package costs $25 and includes: the Newsies Fan Reception, Newsies Cast Talk-Back and a Newsies gift. To participate in Newsies Fan Day, you must hold a ticket to the Newsies fan performance at 7:00pm on Sunday, October 2nd, sold separately. Radio Disney will be on campus to join in the festivities.

NEW YORK, August 16, 2011-For the exhibition Diego Rivera: Murals for The Museum of Modern Art, MoMA will reunite five 'portable murals'-freestanding frescoes with bold images commemorating events in Mexican history-that were made for a monographic exhibition of the artist's work at the Museum in 1931. On view from November 13, 2011, to May 14, 2012, the exhibition will also feature three eight-foot working drawings, a prototype 'portable mural' made in 1930, as well as smaller working drawings, watercolors, and prints by Rivera. It will also include design drawings for his infamous Rockefeller Center mural, a project Rivera began to discuss with the Rockefellers while in residence at the Museum. Comprising works from MoMA's collection and loans from private and public collections in the United States and Mexico, Diego Rivera: Murals for The Museum of Modern Art is organized by Leah Dickerman, Curator, Department of Painting and Sculpture, The Museum of Modern Art. MoMA is the exhibition's sole venue.

The 9/11 Peace Story Quilt, designed by the artist Faith Ringgold and created in collaboration with New York City students ages 8 to 19, will be exhibited at The Metropolitan Museum of Art from August 30, 2011 through January 22, 2012, in the Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education. The 9/11 Peace Story Quilt poignantly conveys the importance of respect, understanding, and communication across cultures and religions to achieve the goal of peace. Comprised of three 72-by-50 inch panels, each with 12 squares on the theme of peace, the quilt will be displayed alongside several of the students' original works of art that inspired its content, as well as related works made this summer by the Museum's high school interns.

HotelMotel began Off-Broadway performances on August 4, and continues to run through August 29 at The Gershwin Hotel, located at 7 East 27 Street between Madison & Fifth Avenues in New York City.
