Hedwig and the Angry Inch's Lena Hall played her final performance as Yitzhak last night April 4 and you could hear the screams down the street as each of her previous Hedwigs, including Andrew Rannells, Neil Patrick Harris and Michael C. Hall surprised her on stage (along with of course, John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask). Paper Mill Playhouse presents The Hunchback of Notre Dame (which first played to rave reviews in La Jolla), which opened last night, March 15. Inspired by the classic Victor Hugo novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame has a book by Peter Parnell, music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. The Hunchback of Notre Dame is directed by Scott Schwartz and choreographed by Chase Brock. BroadwayWorld was there for opening night and you can check out photos below!

The 10th anniversary of Broadway Backwards capped off an exuberant, exhilarating and emotional evening of performances on Monday, March 9, 2015 with news that this year's event raised a record $466,717 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center. Just last night, Cutting-Edge Composers returned to 54 Below, showcasing the talents of both up and coming composers and performers in New York City. Below, BroadwayWorld brings you photos from inside the concert!

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, School of Rock-The Musical, will soon have its World Premiere on Broadway. Previews will begin on Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Winter Garden Theatre, with an opening set for Sunday, December 6. Over the weekend, hundreds of musically gifted children gathered at the Winter Garden for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to join the most famous kid band of all time. An open casting call was held, at which hundreds of kids tried to rock, whale, strum and drum their way to Broadway glory on the stage of the Winter Garden Theatre (former home, for nearly 18 record-shattering years, toAndrew Lloyd Webber's Cats). Broadway's Side Show just ended its run at the St. James Theatre yesterday, January 4, 2015. The completely reimagined revival began previews on October 28 and officially opened on November 17, 2014. The inimitable Sandra Bernhard returns to Joe's Pub at The Public with her all new show Sandra Bernhard is #blessed for her annual year-end residency, which has led up to her New Year's Eve spectacle. Artists Striving to End Poverty (ASTEP) just held its Sixth Annual New York City Christmas: A Concert to Benefit ASTEP, taking place last night, December 15 at Joe's Pub at The Public in New York City. Back by popular demand, the evening featured Broadway's most sought-after talent singing new and classic holiday songs. Two new special releases are now available for purchase: 'I Got All I Need (This Christmas)' an original song written by Lynne Shankel and Jon Hartmere sung by Lindsay Mendez (Wicked, Godspell, Everyday Rapture) and Derek Klena (The Bridges of Madison County, Wicked, Carrie, Dogfight) and a hip-hop version of 'Twas The Night Before Christmas' (music by Shankel) sung by Aurelia Williams (Sistas, The Musical, Papermill's Once On This Island), Kenita Miller (Merrily We Roll Along, Ragtime) and Kay Trinidad (The Little Mermaid, Bare) based on the traditional poem. The two songs were recorded on Yellow Sound Label are available on iTunes and wherever digital music is sold. All proceeds go to benefit ASTEP.

The 26th annual edition of Gypsy of the Year raised a record-breaking $5,229,611 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, thanks to six weeks of fundraising by 64 Broadway, Off-Broadway and national touring companies. The grand total was announced Tuesday, December 9, 2014, by special guests Hugh Jackman, Nathan Lane and Judith Light after two stellar performances of original dances, songs and skits by more than 200 'gypsies' from Broadway and Off-Broadway shows.
