Los Angeles Philharmonic Presents Tchaikovsky Spectacular, 9/9-10September 6, 2011The Los Angeles Philharmonic presents two nights of music by Tchaikovsky with fireworks on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9 and10, at 8:30 pm, with the LA Phil led by charismatic conductor Bramwell Tovey. Cellist Christian Poltéra performs Variations on a Rococo Theme for Cello and Orchestra in a program that also includes the Russian composer's Romeo and Juliet and Music from Act IV of Swan Lake. The evening concludes with a performance of the 1812 Overture complete with cannons, a guest appearance by the USC Trojan Marching Band, directed by Dr. Arthur Bartner, and pyrotechnics to light up the sky.
