This June Steppenwolf Theatre Company will present the second annual Next Up: three productions presented in rotating repertory, June 5 - 24, 2012 in The Steppenwolf Garage (1624 N Halsted St). Next Up is presented in collaboration with Northwestern University's MFA programs in Direction and Design, and features the work of graduates of those programs with casts of professional Chicago actors: Life and Limbby Keith Reddin, directed by Emily Campbell; South of Settling by Emily Schwend, directed by Adam Goldstein; and The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams, directed by Laley Lippard. The directors and designers make their Steppenwolf debut under the mentorship of Steppenwolf staff and artists, including ensemble member Anna D. Shapiro and scenic designer Todd Rosenthal-both members of the Northwestern faculty-as well as Steppenwolf Associate Artistic Director Erica Daniels.

Gallery New World Stages, located at 343 West 49th Street, today announced the upcoming opening of 4950 DRAWINGS & PRINTS: A Group Exhibition. This exhibition presents 55 original drawings and digital prints. The show will be on view from May 11 through September 3, 2012, with a Artist Reception on May 11, from 5pm to 8pm. Curator Bernard Stote manages the three-person show.

THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS, the 'provocative and wickedly funny theatrical adaptation of the C.S. Lewis novel about spiritual warfare from a demon's point of view,' comes to San Jose for two performances only. Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) will present an original ensemble created production for the Fredneck in all of us, The All New Grand Ole Hee Haw Hootenanny Hoedown Jamboree. 'The title says it all, the Jamboree is sure to have you busting a gut, tapping your toes, singing along and pulling the straw from your teeth. The show will feature hilarious original sketches and a revolving roster of guest artists and musical acts.' Directed by MET Artistic Director Tad Janes and Associate Artistic Directors Gené Fouché and Julie Herber, the show runs from May 10 through June 3 every Thursday through Sunday at the MET, located in the historic FSK hotel at 31 W Patrick Street.
