Sir Andrew Davis, music director and principal conductor of the world-renowned Lyric Opera of Chicago, will add to his considerable credits the post of chief conductor of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra beginning in January 2013, it was announced on Monday in Australia. Davis is in Melbourne for concerts with the MSO this month. His initial contract in Melbourne is for four years.

InterAct Theatre Company, a theatre devoted to producing new works, was recently named the recipient of a $10,000 grant from the National New Play Network (NNPN) to host playwright-in-residence, A. Directed by Tony Award nominee Moises Kaufman (33 Variations, I Am My Own Wife), the production runs July 10 - August 5, 2012 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre.
