Portland Ovations Presents WEST SIDE STORY, 11/9October 24, 2012The Broadway National tour of the smash hit Broadway revival WEST SIDE STORY is coming to Portland, Maine. WEST SIDE STORY will open at Merrill Auditorium on November 9th and will be in town for three performances; November 9th at 8pm and November 10th at 2pm and 8pm. Tony Award-winning librettist Arthur Laurents' Broadway direction is recreated for the tour by David Saint, the Associate Director on Broadway. The original Jerome Robbins choreography is reproduced by Tony Award-nominee Joey McKneely (The Boy from Oz, The Life).

Usdan's New Programs for 2013 AnnouncedOctober 23, 2012Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts, the nationally renowned Long Island
summer arts day camp, announces new programs for its 46th, 2013 season. These include
a three-week session July 22-August 9. This will be in addition to the four-week program
beginning June 24 (the regular beginning of the season) and the full seven-week program.
There will also be an expansion of the Usdan's Jazz Studies Program with three separate
jazz ensembles: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced, giving students more personalized
attention at their specific levels as well as increased opportunity for performance at the
Center's 1,000-seat McKinley Amphitheater. Visiting jazz faculty in 2013 will include
Grammy-nominated jazz singer Jane Monheit, an alumna of Usdan's summer program. In
addition, in response to popular demand, there will be a new "Technical Theatre" program
for 10th to 12th grade students wishing to study theater stage management and set
construction.
The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and Zubin Mehta Return to Walt Disney Concert Hall, 10/30October 23, 2012Former LA Phil Music Director Zubin Mehta returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Tuesday, October 30, at 8 pm. Joining them is thrilling pianist Yuja Wang performing Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1. Also on the program of Romantic Symphonies is a rare performance of Schubert's Third Symphony as well as Brahms' First Symphony. The concert is the first of the LA Phil's Visiting Orchestras series of the 2012/13 season.
Theatre Aspen Hosts Panel in NYC, 11/8October 23, 2012Theatre Aspen's Board of Trustees will host an intimate panel discussion on November 8th, featuring distinguished leaders in the theatrical field. The event will be held in conjunction with the Colorado theatre's quarterly board meeting, being held for the first time in New York City. LCT3 Extends DISGRACED Through 12/2October 23, 2012The Lincoln Center Theater/LCT3 production of DISGRACED, the new play by Ayad Akhtar, directed by Kimberly Senior, has been extended through Sunday, December 2 at the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65 Street). The production, which features Heidi Armbruster, Erik Jensen, Aasif Mandvi, Omar Maskati and Karen Pittman, was originally scheduled to run through November 18. DISGRACED is produced by arrangement with the Araca Group.
Signature's GOLDEN CHILD Begins TonightOctober 23, 2012Signature Theatre's GOLDEN CHILD, by David Henry Hwang, begins performances tonight directed by Leigh Silverman. All tickets for the initial run of the production are $25 as part of the Signature Ticket Initiative: A Generation of Access. Tickets for the already announced, one week extension are $75. The production runs from October 23 through December 9 and opens November 13 in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).
