SoHo Playhouse Adds SOUTHERN DISCOMFORT to Season

The SoHo Playhouse (15 Vandam Street, NYC) has announced the addition of Southern Discomfort to the theater's lineup. Written in the Southern Gothic tradition of Flannery O'Connor and Carson McCullers, Elisabeth Gray's Southern Discomfort is described as a comedic exploration of loneliness and the drastic measures people take to overcome it. Southern Discomfort begins performances at the SoHo Playhouse on March 25 and will play on Monday nights until May 27.

The second edition of Art Wynwood, the Wynwood Art District's highly anticipated international contemporary art fair hosted by Art Miami LLC, closed its doors Monday, Feb. 18, following sales by more than 90 percent of participating galleries and more than 27,500 visitors - an increase of more than 4,000 from last year's inaugural fair. Once again the five-day fair was held during President's Day Weekend coinciding with the Yacht & Brokerage Show. Cameron Mackintosh and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group announced today that their spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA will launch a North American tour beginning this November in Providence, R.I. at the Providence Performing Arts Center. With newly reinvented staging and stunning scenic design, this new version of PHANTOM, the most successful musical of all-time, will play more than 20 multi-week engagements through next year, including Cincinnati, OH and Minneapolis, MN. A complete tour schedule will be announced in the coming weeks. First unveiled in March, 2012 in Plymouth, England, this reinvented PHANTOM has been an enormous box-office and critical hit throughout the U.K.

On Monday, February 25, the Broadway at Birdland concert series presented the third annual Broadway Belts for PFF, which raised over $70,000 for the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. The evening was hosted by Julie Halston, and starred Klea Blackhurst, Linda Lavin, Emily Bergl, Debbie Gravitte, Emma Hunton, Alyssa Paulsen, Robert Creighton, Max von Essen, John McDaniel, and Ed Watts. The show was directed by Carl Andress, with musical direction by Jesse Kissel.
