Life imitates art, as Pope Benedict XVI's historic resignation makes headlines around the world and Theater for the New City and its Executive Director Crystal Field announce that Tom Attea's BENEDICTUS, a play written two years ago, about a pope who resigns, is slated for an off-Broadway run May 30 - June 16, 2013 at Theater for the New City (155 First Avenue). So Polite, the debut EP from UK-based composer and songwriter Sasha Siem is out now on Gearbox Records. The EP will be available as a special edition vinyl and will be distributed widely via AWAL. In conjunction with the release, Siem recently appeared London at the Royal Opera House and New York City at Le Poisson Rouge on March 2. Her upcoming full length album "Most Of The Boys" is due this summer with production duties handled in Iceland by Valgeir Sigurðsson.

The Des Moines Community Playhouse is the home for Second Saturday, which will be held 7:30-10:00 PM, Saturday, Mar. 9. Second Saturday is an alternative Saturday night entertainment for young people in grades 6-12. Cost is $8. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, and is available online at dmplayhouse.com.

Stars Stephanie J. Block, Betsy Wolfe and Jessie Mueller are set to perform from the album at the Upper East Side Barnes & Noble (86th & Lexington Ave.) on March 8 at 4:30pm; they'll be joined by Will Chase, Jim Norton, Gregg Edelman and Chita Rivera for a CD signing following the performances.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced that its production of the world premiere of Jesse Eisenberg's The Revisionist, starring Eisenberg and Vanessa Redgrave, and directed by Kip Fagan, will extend for three weeks though Sunday, April 21, at the Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street. (The Revisionist was originally scheduled to run through March 31.)

Berkshire Theatre Group has announced it will begin accepting submissions beginning March 15, 2013 for the third annual Made in the Berkshires festival, which will occur October 11-13 at both the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield as well as the Unicorn Theatre in Stockbridge. The deadline for submissions is May 15.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) today announced the selections for the 2013 Next Link Project, NYMF's primary writer service program. The Next Link Project empowers emerging musical theatre writing teams as both artists and entrepreneurs by providing the training and relationships needed to help them move their musicals from readings to fully-realized productions and to advance their careers by maximizing the exposure they receive in the Festival. Ten of the Festival's full production slots are reserved for participants in The Next Link Project.

Broadway and Smash star Jeremy Jordan stopped by East Rockaway High School to help the students put the final touches on their performance and scenery before their first performance on their new stage.
