Arsht Center Hosts Free Community Celebration & Live Presidential Inauguration Simulcast, 1/21

As Americans descend upon Washington D.C. for the second term inauguration of President Barack Obama, South Floridians will once again gather at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County for a special Community Celebration and Live Television Simulcast of the Inauguration. The event, which will take place on January 21, will feature a simulcast of the President's address and inauguration parade, presentation of the colors by Homestead Senior High School Air Force JROTC Color Guard, live musical performance by the New World School of the Arts Concert Choir, and guest appearances by local elected officials. Admission will be free of charge and reservations can be made in advance at arshtcenter.org beginning January 8, 2013. Exact timing will be released in the coming weeks.

The commercial showcases the new 2013 Chrysler 300 Motown Edition and features legendary Motown founder and Detroit native Berry Gordy, taking you through his journey from humble beginnings in Detroit to the bright lights of New York's Times Square and home of the new Broadway Musical, MOTOWN: The Musical. "Who We Are" will make a broadcast debut on Thursday, Dec. 20.

In Not by Bread Alone, Nalaga'at Theater, the world's only professional deaf-blind acting company, takes the audience on a tour of their inner world. As bread is kneaded, formed, and baked on stage, eleven extraordinary storytellers convey their memories and dreams, mixing reality and fantasy, grandeur and ridicule. Performed multiple nights each week since 2007 at the one-of-a-kind Nalaga'at Center in Tel Aviv's Jaffa Port, and following an acclaimed, sold-out run in London's 2010 LIFT Festival, the work will make its U.S. premiere at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.

Godfrey will return to the Comix At Foxwoods stage for four shows this March with performances Thursday, Mar. 7 at 8 p.m., Friday, Mar. 8 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Mar. 9 at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The final show will be one not for the faint of heart or easily offended, as fans will be welcomed to witness a "Nasty Show with Godfrey." Lines will be crossed and common decency will be left at the door during this final uproarious performance.

Based on fifteen years of research, Gutai: Splendid Playground provides a critical examination of both iconic and lesser-known examples of the collective's dynamic output over its two decade history and explores the full spectrum of Gutai's creative production: painting, performance, installation art, sound art, experimental film, kinetic art, light art, and environment art. Gutai: Splendid Playground is the first North American museum exhibition devoted to the Gutai group and offers a comprehensive interpretation of the convention-defying movement.
