Jordan Van Vranken to Raise Money for Cancer Children with Third Annual Bowl-A-ThonJanuary 18, 2013Teen actress Jordan Van Vranken is hosting her third Annual Bowl-A-Thon Sunday, January 20th to raise money to support kids with cancer, specifically the children housed at Memphis' Ronald McDonald House who are being treated at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Jordan created the Bowl-A-Thon event as a way to help raise additional funds and allow her Los Angeles-based friends and fellow actors to participate in this worth-while cause.

Tina Packer's WOMEN OF WILL Will Make Its NYC Debut, Beginning 1/29January 18, 2013The New York premiere of Women of Will, Shakespeare & Company Founding Artistic Director Tina Packer's groundbreaking exploration of Shakespeare's canon arrives Off-Broadway at The Gym at Judson later this month for an ambitious five month run. Women of Will begins preview performances on January 29 with the official press opening slated for February 3 at 7:00pm and running through June 2. Eric Tucker (Pinter's Mirror at S&Co.), who directed Packer in the world premiere of Women of Will at Shakespeare & Company in 2010, returns to direct. Nigel Gore (Hamlet, Antony and Cleopatra), a longtime Company member and collaborator on Women of Will, stars alongside Packer in the Off-Broadway debut.

Nicholas Martin Named Associate Artist of The Old GlobeJanuary 18, 2013The Old Globe today named director Nicholas Martin an Associate Artist of The Old Globe. He is the 56th artist to receive the prestigious honor recognizing over half a century of his unique contributions to the institution both on and offstage. After making his acting debut in 1957 as the Fool in King Lear, Martin went on to appear on the Globe stage in 18 additional productions, including The Merry Wives of Windsor (1965), The School for Scandal (1989) and Hamlet (1960 and 1990). As a director, he helmed the Globe productions of Later Life, Full Gallop, Overtime, Macbeth and The Mask of Moriarty. The Old Globe is currently celebrating the 100th anniversary of George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion with Martin's production of Shaw's masterwork, which runs through Feb. 17. Brooklyn Museum Acquires Important Collection of Works from Black Arts MovementJanuary 18, 2013The Brooklyn Museum has acquired an important collection of works of art created in conjunction with the revolutionary Black Arts Movement of the late 1960s to mid-1970s. The group of forty-four works by twenty-six artists was assembled by former Chicago dealers David Lusenhop and Melissa Azzi, whose goal was to preserve and promote works by leading African American visual artists involved in the movement. The acquisition was made by purchase directly from Lusenhop and Azzi as private collectors with a combination of funds devoted to the collection of American art at the Brooklyn Museum.
