With gaseous energy and outrageous jokes, The Imaginary Invalid hits the boards at Portland Center Stage, in a new adaptation by Constance Congdon of the classic comedy by Molière. The Imaginary Invalid previews on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, with opening night set for January 14, and performances through February 6. Performance times are Tuesday through Sunday, 7:30 pm, with matinees at 2:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday, and some Thursday matinees at noon.

In a first-time collaboration, The Orion Ensemble, Chicago's nationally recognized and critically acclaimed chamber music ensemble, joins Ballet Chicago dancers for the world premiere of 'Instruments of Revelation' by Victoria Bond, on a program that also includes works by Rezsö Kókai and Franz Schubert. Performances take place February 27 at Music Institute of Chicago's Nichols Concert Hall in Evanston, March 6 at Fox Valley Presbyterian Church in Geneva and March 9 at Roosevelt University's Ganz Hall in Chicago.

Buck Creek Playhouse will hold open auditions for the classic Broadway play, Auntie Mame, on Monday and Tuesday, January 24 and 25, at 7PM at the playhouse. Long before the rushing in of springtime, Parthenia, a Consort of Viols, will paint the season of love's power and pain via 16th and 17th century French music set primarily to the poems of Pierre de Ronsard. Featuring soprano soloist Julianne Baird and renaissance violinist Robert Mealy, Parthenia will perform Les Amours de Mai on Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, in Jorgensen's chamber music setting.

YOUTHWORKS director, Donna Costello, assisted by the festivals coordinator, leads the orientation session (mandatory for participants), recruits the coaches, coordinates rehearsals and produces the performance. The culminating performance is fully produced (with lights, sound and stage manager) and takes place in the theater space.

Theatrical pistol Victoria Libertore will return to Dance New Amsterdam (DNA) in a multipart event, serving up a four-night run of GIRL MEAT February 3-6, 2011. Intrigued by the true story of alleged serial killer Countess Erzsébet Báthory, solo performer Libertore channels her essence with intensity, a dose of insanity and many drops of bloody humor.
