On World Refugee Day, public television's WORLD Channel announced the lineup of films for season 3 of Doc World, a series that showcases stories that dive deep into the heart of international issues, giving viewers a chance to understand the lives and concerns of people beyond U.S. borders. The first three films of the season, kicking off Sunday, September 9, entitled: Sky and Ground, Los Comandos, and Towards the North, all follow refugees fleeing their homes in search of asylum.

The award-winning PBS series Independent Lens today announced that it has acquired Denali Tiller's documentary Tre Maison Dasan for its Spring 2019 season on PBS. An intimate portrait of three boys growing up with a parent in prison, Tre Maison Dasan provides a firsthand look at children struggling to identify themselves in a society that demonizes their parents, provides little support for their families, and assumes “the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.” The deal was negotiated by Endeavor Content and Lois Vossen, executive producer of Independent Lens.

Comedian Wanda Sykes will bring her signature smart-witted humor to Netflix for an all new stand-up special. The hour-long special will launch globally in 2019. This marks Sykes' fifth stand-up special and first on Netflix. Push It Productions will produce the special.

 Comedy Central is bringing the laughs to the New York Comic Con at the Javits Center. Comedy Central franchises South Park and Drunk History will take part in the festivities at 2018 New York Comic Con at the Javits Center, located at 655 West 34 Street in Manhattan. Comedy Central will present the Drunk History panel in room 1A06 on Saturday, October 6 from 8:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., respectively, and South Park's interactive fan activation will take place all weekend, Thursday, October 4 – Sunday, October 7 during convention hours (Thursday-Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.).

The new Paramount Network today announced a full series order for 'Emily in Paris' (working title) from Darren Star. The 10 episode, half-hour series will bookend a new Thursday dramedy night that launches in January with 'First Wives Club,' from Tracy Oliver ('Girls Trip'), followed by Star's hit-series 'Younger,' that officially moves to Paramount Network for season six in the spring, followed by 'Emily in Paris' in the summer.

ESPN announced today a 20-hour, 10-part documentary 'Basketball: A Love Story' from Peabody Award-winning director Dan Klores. The sweeping project, which consists of more than 60 interconnected 'short stories,' will be available across multiple ESPN platforms in a variety of viewing experiences. Klores has created a vibrant mosaic of the game, featuring 165 exclusive interviews. The cast encompasses basketball's most prominent figures, from Bob Cousy, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Dr. J, Yao Ming, Stephen Curry and Diana Taurasi, to Magic Johnson, Oscar Robertson, Bill Russell, Larry Bird, Chris Paul and Kobe Bryant. Klores' short stories explore the complex nature of love as it relates to the game and opens the window to insights and perspectives about race, politics, media, art, business, style and entertainment.
