Filmmakers from the U.S., Lebanon, Palestine, and the United Kingdom have been selected for the 2019 Sundance Institute Directors and Screenwriters Labs, taking place at the Sundance Mountain Resort in Utah. At the Directors Lab (May 27-June 18), filmmakers will rehearse, shoot, and edit key scenes from their scripts, working in an immersive, hands-on environment with support from accomplished advisors to build their craft as directors and make key discoveries in collaboration with their actors and key crew. Immediately following, the Screenwriters Lab (June 20-24) provides the opportunity to process the insight gained from the Directors Lab through one-on-one story sessions with screenwriter advisors, and find inspiration and guidance for continued development of their screenplays.

Toronto collective New West has announced their debut EP, Call Me When You Hear This Song, will arrive June 7, releasing the first single, “Those Eyes” today.  Call Me When You Hear This Song is the first of three planned EPs for 2019, to be supported by a series of short films directed by awarding winning visual artist Sean Brown.

Today, the Austin, TX-based country rock band Reckless Kellyannounced they will release Bulletproof Live on June 21 via Thirty Tigers. The album is a live recording of their seminal album Bulletproof that was recorded in July and August of 2018 in celebration of the record's tenth anniversary. New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) is thrilled to announce the honorees for the 20th anniversary of its Designing Women Awards, co-presented by Variety, on Tuesday, June 11th at 7 PM for the first time at the prestigious Directors Guild of America Theater. Designing Women celebrates the alchemy of design, character and story by honoring distinguished costume designers, makeup artists and hair stylists in moving image media, and is attended by designers, actors, producers, directors, writers, and fashion industry leaders. The 2019 ceremony,hosted by comedian Zainab Johnson (Last Comic Standing, Late Night with Seth Meyers), will feature costume displays from Game of Thrones and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Breakout singer-songwriter J.S. Ondara will support Neil Young on select west coast shows this month. Ondara will also continue touring throughout the summer and fall in support of his debut LP Tales of America. The Head and The Heart's newest albumLiving Mirage is due out next Friday, May 17th on Warner Bros.
