Ravinia Festival's 2011 Gala Benefit Evening will celebrate legendary American composer George Gershwin with a program including his most beloved music at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 23. This performance commemorates the 75th anniversary of Gershwin's Ravinia performance by recreating the concert, which in 1936 had audiences climbing into the trees to catch a glimpse of the musical genius. Ravinia Festival Music Director James Conlon will lead the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in the 75-minute concert, which features renowned Gershwin interpreters vocalists Kelli O'Hara, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Sylvia McNair and pianist Kevin Cole.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the Canadian distributor Fremantle has acquired the international rights to Broadway's MEMPHIS. They write: 'Toronto-based Fremantle will start shopping the two-hour, HD musical special event from Broadway Worldwide at MIP-TV 2011.'

Academy Award-winning actress Anjelica Huston has been reported to join the cast of the NBC pilot 'Smash'. She'll be joining the already announced Broadway regulars Christian Borle and Megan Hilty, as well as Debra Messing, Jack Davenport, Raza Jeffrey, and American Idol finalist Katharine McPhee.

Teal Wicks began performances in the role of Elphaba in the Broadway company of WICKED on February 1, 2011. Wicks is making her Broadway debut after playing the role of Elphaba in both the San Francisco and Los Angeles productions of WICKED. The American Theatre Wing announced today that the recipients of the 2011 Jonathan Larson® Grants are Danny Larsen (Composer/Co-Lyricist) & Michelle Elliott (Bookwriter/Co-Lyricist), Cloaked; Marisa Michelson (Composer) & Joshua H. Cohen (Bookwriter/Lyricist), Tamar and the River; and Andy Monroe (Composer), Jack Lechner (Lyricist) & Michael Zam (Bookwriter), The Kid. The prestigious grants, totaling $10,000, will be presented on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at a private event in New York City. The event will feature special performances of the recipients' work.

Ruthie Henshall, Alison Steadman, Robert Bathurst, and Hermione Norris star in BLITHE SPIRIT which just opened at the Apollo Theatre in the West End. The Mariinsky (Kirov) Ballet joins the previously-announced Royal Shakespeare Company and The Cleveland Orchestra, completing the trio of leading performing ensembles coming to New York this summer as part of Lincoln Center Festival 2011. Nigel Redden, Festival Director, today announced the complete Festival schedule, which runs from July 5 through August 14. In a co-presentation with the Metropolitan Opera, the renowned Mariinsky (Kirov) Ballet returns to the Festival for eight performances at the Met Opera House, dancing three programs. Highlighting the company's appearance are the U.S. premieres of Anna Karenina and The Little Humpbacked Horse, evening-length ballets by critically-acclaimed choreographer Alexei Ratmansky set to music by leading Russian composer Rodion Shchedrin. A third program pairs Alberto Alonso's Carmen Suite, to Shchedrin's arrangement of Bizet's score, and George Balanchine's neo-classical masterwork Symphony in C, also with music by Bizet. Artistic Director of the Mariinsky, Valery Gergiev will conduct the Mariinsky Orchestra.

Producer Daryl Roth announced today that Sonia Manzano (Maria on 'Sesame Street'), Anne Meara ('Sex and the City'; Stiller & Meara), Fredi Walker-Browne (original cast of Rent) and Rumer Willis (The House Bunny; '90210') will join upcoming casts of the hit Off Broadway show Love, Loss, and What I Wore, now in its second smash year at the Westside Theatre (407 West 43 Street).

The Drama League (Jano Herbosch, President; Gabriel Shanks, Executive Director) is pleased to announce that Academy Award nominee and two-time Golden Globe winner Kathleen Turner will serve as host for The 77th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon.

Producer Daryl Roth announced today that Emmy Award nominee Lee Pace ('Pushing Daisies') and Emmy and Golden Globe-winner Jim Parsons ('The Big Bang Theory') have joined the cast of Larry Kramer's ground-breaking play, The Normal Heart. In their Broadway debuts, Pace will play Bruce Niles and Parsons will play Tommy Boatwright, joining the previously announced Joe Mantello as Ned Weeks, Ellen Barkin as Dr. Emma Brookner and John Benjamin Hickey as Felix Turner. Joel Grey will direct the production, which begins its limited 12-week engagement on Tuesday, April 19 at the John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street), with an official opening night set for Wednesday, April 27.

At a media announcement today, Dancap Productions added two new shows to their 2011 line-up at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts: DONNY & MARIE and COLM WILKINSON IN CONCERT: BROADWAY AND BEYOND; and one new show at the Toronto Centre for the Arts, the explosive Broadway musical GREEN DAY'S AMERICAN IDIOT.

Artistic Director Jenny Gersten announced today the Nikos Stage line-up for the 2011 Williamstown Theatre Festival (WTF), the company's 57th season and the first under Ms. Gersten's leadership. The Nikos Stage season kicks-off on June 22, 2011 and runs through August 21, 2011 and will include revivals of Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire and Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House, along with three new works: Lewis Black's One Slight Hitch, the East Coast Premiere of Bess Wohl's Touch(ed), and The Civilians' production of You Better Sit Down: tales from my parents' divorce. Directors taking part in the 2011 Nikos Stage season include David Cromer, Trip Cullman, Sam Gold, Joe Grifasi and Anne Kauffman. Actors Jessica Hecht, Paige Howard, Hamish Linklater, Lily Rabe, Sam Rockwell, Lili Taylor and many more will be featured this season on the Nikos Stage.
