It's Official: Oprah Show to Shutter September 9, 2011November 20, 2009It is truly the end of a a talk show era. Variety reports that the Emmy-winning The Oprah Winfrey Show will broadcast its final interview in September 9, 2011 when Oprah's syndication deal ends. The show will have run for 25 years. Oprah Winfrey, the show's host, announced the shows end to staffers at her Chicago-based Harpo production company yesterday and will make the news public on her program today, November 20th. The Oprah Winfrey Show airs on ABC at 4pm EST.

Ireland, Hamilton, Siff & More Lead Ethan Hawke-Helmed A LIE OF THE MIND for The New Group; Premieres 1/29November 19, 2009The New Group has announced casting for it's revival of Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind, the second show of their 2009 - 2010 season. Baayork Lee Set to Direct China-Bound FLOWER DRUM SONGNovember 19, 2009The Center for the Asian Arts and Media at Columbia College in Chicago has announced that Baayork Lee will direct and choreograph their new production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Flower Drum Song next August. The production, which will begin as a concert in Washington D.C. in honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in collaboration with the U.S.-Asia Institute in May of 2010, will run for one month in Chicago. The show will ultimately make a transfer to Shanghai in the late fall of 2010.
Burke Replaces 'Burke' as Captain Von Trapp in Toronto's THE SOUND OF MUSIC, 12/8 November 19, 2009Producers Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian and David Mirvish have welcomed Simon Burke to their Toronto production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Burke, a versatile star of stage and screen originally from Australia but with a large body of work in the U.K., will take over the role of Captain von Trapp, having played the role in the West End London production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, opposite the 'Marias' of Connie Fisher and Summer Strallen.

He assumes the role of Harrison Brent and replaces Randy Kovitz, who will play his final performance on Sunday, November 22.
