Drama Desk Awards Set for 5/23; Nominations to Come 5/3February 18, 2010The 55th Annual Drama Desk Awards will take place on Sunday, May 23, 2010, at 9 PM at the F.H. LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City, it was announced by Robert R. Blume, Executive Producer of the annual Drama Desk Awards ceremony, and William Wolf, President of the Drama Desk, an organization of theater critics, writers and editors that honors excellence in all areas of New York theatre, including Broadway, Off Broadway, Off Off Broadway and not-for-profit theater.
The nominations will be announced at a news conference on Monday, May 3, at 9:30 AM at the New York Friars Club, 57 East 55th Street. There will be a continental breakfast at 8:45 AM.

During the IDOL results show on FOX on Thursday, February 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), IDOL winner Kris Allen will perform and will share footage of his trip to Haiti with the UN Foundation to raise awareness and funds that will benefit the United Nations as it works with Haitians to help rebuild the country.
Houdyshell & Kane Join LOVE, LOSS in March; O'Donnell WithdrawsFebruary 17, 2010Producer Daryl Roth announced today that Jayne Houdyshell and Carol Kane will join the March cast of Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron's hit Off Broadway show, Love, Loss, and What I Wore, which has been playing to sold-out houses at the Westside Theatre. They join the previously announced Didi Conn, Fran Drescher and Natasha Lyonne. Rosie O'Donnell, who performed as part of the opening cast and was to return to the show in March, had to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts and family obligations.

The 2010/11 inaugural season includes eight full productions, seven presentations from the National Endowment for the Arts New Play Development Program and public readings from all 30 of Edward Albee's works, totaling at least 45 projects produced and presented by Arena Stage in the inaugural year at the Mead Center. With the opening next fall, Arena Stage will fully become a national center for production, presentation, development and study of American theater.
