Deadline.com has confirmed previously reported on speculation by BroadwayWorld.com that Benjamin Walker will not be playing the 'Beast' in the next installment of the 'X-Men' franchise. While it was first thought that Walker was dropped from the role, if was later reported that he turned it down in order to help bring BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON to Broadway.

Despite previously reported speculation to the contrary, a rep for Katie Holmes has confirmed to Us Weekly that the All My Sons alumna will not be appearing on GLEE next season. Holmes was reportedly in talks for a deal that will give her a role for five episodes during GLEE's second season.

Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters will host the 12th annual BROADWAY BARKS!, a star-studded dog and cat adopt-a-thon benefiting New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies. The event, produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is sponsored by the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) and Pedigree® Food for Dogs with additional sponsorship by the New York Times. The event will take place on Saturday, July 10th in Shubert Alley (located between 44th and 45th Streets, between Broadway and Eighth Avenue). The festivities begin at 3:30 p.m.; celebrity presentations of pets from citywide animal shelters will take place between 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. (Celebrity participation begins at 5:15 PM).

The Muny will present DAMN YANKEES from July 12 - July 18, 2010. As previously announced, the cast will be lead by Eric Kunze (Joe Hardy), Angie L/ Shworer (Lola), and Lewis J. Stadlen (Applegate). The BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop is now accepting applications for its first year composer/lyricist class. The August 1, 2010 deadline is quickly approaching and applicants are asked to send in the requested materials as soon as possible. The Workshop begins September 21, 2010 and runs through June 2011. A recipient of the Tony Honors for Excellence in Theatre Award, the Lehman Engel Musical Workshop consists of approximately 250 composers, lyricists and book writers who are actively writing new works for the musical theatre.

At just eleven-years-old Shannon Tavarez (a native of Queens) already had a promising Broadway career performing four shows a week as Young Nala in DISNEY'S The Lion King. Shannon juggled a full day of school before rushing to the Minskoff Theatre - - she was living her dream. Now, just two months later, Shannon's dream is simply to grow up and return to her normal life. In April, Shannon was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia. The talented young star was performing on stage when the symptoms first hit. Her lower back and legs suddenly started hurting making it difficult for her to perform or even walk. 'When I found out, it hit me really hard, like someone was throwing a ball at me. It was shocking and I thought, why me?' said Shannon.
