Photo Coverage: KINKY BOOTS Celebrates 1000 Broadway Performances in Style!August 27, 2015Just yesterday, Tony Award-winner Billy Porter joined hundreds of hopefuls outside of the Hirschfeld Theatre in their most fabulous red footwear to celebrate the show's 1000th performance. To pay homage to the show's now-iconic red boots, the first 50 people in line at the Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th St) wearing red shoes received a free pair of tickets, plus the three most fabulous pairs of footwear, and winners (as chosen by Porter) got to join the cast backstage after the evening performance. Later that night the cast gathered on stage to celebrate with a toast and custom Kinky Boots cupcakes provided by Baked by Melissa. BroadwayWorld brings you photos from the whole day below!
Photo Coverage: Navy Vets Celebrate 70th Anniversary of WWII's End at ON THE TOWN!August 17, 2015Over the weekend, WWII Navy veterans Ray and Ellie Williams led the Times Square Alliance's "Kiss-In" to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of the war. At the special event, hundreds of people re-enacted the legendary lip-lock between a U.S. sailor and nurse, captured forever on the cover of LIFE Magazine. The famous victory kiss occured on August 14, 1945 on Military Island, at the intersection of Broadway and 7th Avenue between 43rd and 44th Streets.
Afterwards the couple stopped by the Lyric Theatre to continue in the theme of the day by catching a performance of ON THE TOWN. Check out photos of Ray and Ellie with the cast below!

Among other numbers, she performed John Denver's 'Sunshine on my Shoulders,' Cole Porter's 'I Get a Kick Out of You,' and will reprise her touching duet 'Flight' with McGinnis. Donnell will perform a duet with Foster, in addition to 'On the Streets of Dublin,' from Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty's A Man of No Importance. The concert is sponsored by Morgan Stanley and Reed Smith.
