Gap Inc. officially acquired Intermix for a whopping $130 millon. WWD reported this morning that the deal officially closed on December 31st. Inside that story of numbers and mutual beneficial reasons for the deal was the news that Intermix will be opening two new New York stores.

Gap Inc. has acquired retailer Intermix for $130 million in cash. Last month we reported that the two companies were in talks for a collaboration. The official deal closed on December 31 and expands Gap's presence in the luxury retail market.

Vans is sounding the call for hundreds of high schools across the country to take part in the 4th edition of Vans Custom Culture, a nationwide art contest. Schools can now register at vans.com/customculture for the chance to compete for a $50,000 award to their art program and the opportunity to travel to New York City to exhibit their art-adorned Vans shoes at the final art showcase.

WWD reported that stores posted soft December sales as consumers held back their holiday purchases until the last minute, and in many cases did without them.

Isabel Marant's first West Coast store has opened on Melrose Place in West Hollywood. The 1,100-square-foot store is the French designer's second in the U.S. and 11th worldwide.

Private equity firm Goode Partners has taken a stake in Philadelphia-based Sneaker Villa Inc. which has more than doubled the size of its store base this past year. Goode, based out of New York, has had success with smaller retailers, having previously taken stakes in Intermix and All Saints.

Joie, the Los Angeles-based contemporary brand, has major plans to expand to as many as 15 stores throughout the country over the next year. To start those plans, Joie has already opened second locations in New York and California in SoHo and Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood to bring its total number of U.S. stores to four.

Thomas Pink opened it's first store in India last month reports WWD. It may seem like an odd pairing considering the Indian male has grown up with shades of browns and Pink is anything but browns.

Jimmy Choo is set to open a new men's store in London at 35a Dover Street, just two blocks away from its Bond Street store. "Dover Street is fast becoming a shopping destination for luxury fashion and cutting-edge designers. The store is an exciting next step in the growth of Jimmy Choo Men," said Pierre Denis, the brand's chief executive officer.

Back in September, Rachel Zoe announced that her next business venture in the Zoe empire would be a series of blowout salons on Manhattan and beyond. Ms. Zoe and business partner Robin Moraetes will introduce DreamDry, a hair salon reserved for blowout hairstyling only. The first location will be at 35 W. 21st Street and signage is already posted.
