Just last night, SAG Foundation & Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation presented The New Generation of Musical Theatre- a special panel discussion at Baruch Performing Arts Center.

Just yesterday, the stars of Broadway's biggest box office hit of the year MOTOWN THE MUSICAL appeared at a special live performance at The Apple Store in SoHo to celebrate the Universal Music Enterprises (UME) new Original Broadway Cast Recording. Shout! Broadway released the new 2012 Cast Recording for ANNIE CD on Tuesday, June 18. To celebrate the release of the CD cast members Jane Lynch, Anthony Warlow, Lilla Crawford, Brynn O'Malley, Clarke Thorell, creators Charles Strouse, Martin Charnin and Tom Meehan and more signed copies of the album at Barnes & Noble (160 East 54th Street at 3rd Avenue) yesterday. The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) recently announced a one week extension today for the new Public Lab musical Venice, with book by Eric Rosen, music by Matt Sax, lyrics by Matt Sax and Eric Rosen, additional music by Curtis Moore, and choreography by Chase Brock. Directed by Eric Rosen, Venice began performances on Tuesday, May 28 and was originally scheduled to close on Sunday, June 23. It will now run an additional week through Sunday, June 30. Soul Doctor: Journey of a Rock-Star Rabbi, which tells the true story of the beloved and controversial father of popular Jewish music, Shlomo Carlebach, will open at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre this summer. The musical, which had a NYC run in 2012, will begin previews on July 17 and open on August 15. Casting has not yet been announced. Seth Rudetsky and Mary J. Davis present the official Off-Broadway premiere of Unbroken Circle written by James Wesley, with original direction by Jason St. Little. Unbroken Circle began performances on Wednesday, May 29; opening Wednesday, June 19 at St. Luke's Theatre on West 46th Street. The 2013 season will include fully staged productions of new plays by Seth Zvi Rosenfeld andMozhan Marno, as well as two exciting musical workshops: the Steve Martin & Edie Brickell collaboration Bright Star (featuring music from their newly released recording "Love Has Come For You"), directed by Tony Award-winner Walter Bobbie (Chicago); and A new musical inspired by The Brooklyn Hero Supply Company, music and lyrics by Peter Lerman, book by Simon Rich, based on characters created by Pulitzer Prize winning novelist Michael Chabon and Ayelet Waldman, directed by Tony Award-winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening).
