The new show HEART AND LIGHTS is a love letter to New York, written by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Doug Wright, which celebrates New York City as seen through the eyes of two cousins who discover their grandmother's past by uncovering the secrets of the city she loved. The 26-foot tall animatronic Statue of Liberty puppet for HEART AND LIGHTS was loaded in to Radio City Music Hall earlier today, and BroadwayWorld brings you a sneak peek at her onstage below!

50 Shades! The Musical - The Original Parody at The Elektra Theatre (300 W. 43rd Street), will begin performances on Friday, February 21st with opening night set for March 12th. Directed by Al Samuels and Rob Lindley, 50 Shades! the Musical - The Original Parody is produced by Royal Mile Entertainment, Andrew Asnes, Rob Kolson and 50 Shades Tour LLC. Just yesterday, Barnes & Noble celebrated the release of the new Ghostlight Records cast recording MURDER FOR TWO with a special in-store performance and CD signing Hosted by MURDER FOR TWO creators Joe Kinosian and Kellen Blair, the special event featured performances by original cast members Jeff Blumenkrantz and Brett Ryback. Love is in the air at Murder for Two! On Monday night, the creative team of the hit musical comedy along with friends and special guests as they attempt to solve the mysteries of love at Love: The Concert on February 10, 2014 at New World Stages (Stage 5 - 340 West 50th Street) immediately following the 7pm performance. Transport Group, the Drama Desk and OBIE award-winning theatre company presents Almost, Maine, written by John Cariani and directed by Jack Cummings III. Due to strong ticket sales, this first New York revival of one of the country's most produced plays will now play through Sunday, March 2 at the Gym at Judson, 243 Thompson Street at West 4 Street. Just last night, Second Stage Theatre celebrated its annual All-Star Bowling Classic at Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge. For over 25 years, stars of stage and screen have come out to bowl in support of Second Stage's award-winning seasons and to assist the theatre in its fund-raising efforts, and included in this year's roster was Constantine Maroulis, Julie White, Dylan Baker, Perez Hilton, Anika Noni Rose, Richard Kind, Ben Rappaport, Zach Braff and more!

Nothing Like a Dame: Conversations with the Great Women of Musical Theater, a new book by Eddie Shapiro featuring interviews with 20 female musical theatre stars, launched last night at the headquarters of Oxford University Press at 198 Madison Avenue. Attendees got to meet some of the dames of Dames including Laura Benanti, Judy Kaye, Debra Monk, Donna McKechnie, Donna Murphy, Lillias White and Karen Ziemba. The Broadway League announces special events scheduled to take place during KIDS' NIGHT ON BROADWAY, Monday, February 24, 2014 to Sunday, March 2, 2014. KIDS' NIGHT ON BROADWAY is an audience development program created by The Broadway League to make theatre accessible, encourage theatre as a form of family entertainment, and build larger audiences for the future. Earlier today, National Ambassador of KIDS' NIGHT ON BROADWAY Idina Menzel was at Sardi's to announce this season's events. Yesterday at 88 Madison Avenue, the cast of Pippin celebrated the show's new partnership with Carlton Hotel with a live performance, nail art painting provided by Caravan Stylist Studio and circus-inspired refreshments provided by the Carlton hotel. The Carlton hotel's new PIPPIN the Musical Package will be available starting January, running through March 2014. The package includes overnight luxury accommodations, tickets to PIPPIN, cocktails at restaurant Millesime and a CD soundtrack from the show.

Barnes & Noble just celebrated the new Ghostlight Recordscast recording MARRY ME A LITTLE - featuring songs by Stephen Sondheim - with a special in-store performance and CD signing yesterday, January 13. The event included performances by the show's stars Lauren Molina and Jason Tam, who were joined on piano by Musical Director John Bell. Earlier today, the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee, National Football League, Verizon, and Broadway Green Alliance united in Duffy Square to collect and safely recycle Electronic Waste. SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK, the Broadway spectacular that defied odds and expectations to conquer New York, played its final performance at the Foxwoods Theatre yesterday, Jan. 4, 2014, after being seen by approximately two million fans, and 1,268 performances. Since it began previews on November 28, 2010, and even before they bagan, the show's high and lows were in the news, making it one of the most talked about shows in theater history. Broadway's new musical Big Fish will play its final performance on Sunday, December 29, 2013. Basquiat, a new musical about the life and times of 80's art-star, Jean Michele Basquiat just premiered a special concert version of the show at Joe's Publast night, December 16th. The performers included Eric LaJuan Summers (Motown: The Musical) as well as Lena Hall (Kinky Boots) and Felicia Finley(Mama Mia, The Wedding Singer). Other performers include Ken Robinson (Memphis), Julius Thomas III (Motown: The Musical) Chad Carstarphen (In the Heights), Benjamin Mapp, Jimmy Lambert, Roger DeWitt, Eddie Varley andNikki Kimbrough (A Night with Janis Joplin). The New Group continues its 2013-2014 season with the world premiere of Intimacy, a new play by Thomas Bradshaw. Directed by Scott Elliott, Intimacy features David Anzuelo, Austin Cauldwell, Ella Dershowitz, Laura Esterman, Daniel Gerroll, Dea Julien and Keith Randolph Smith. A limited Off-Broadway engagement plays January 14 - March 8 at The New Group @ Theatre Row (The Acorn Theatre / 410 West 42nd Street), with Official Opening Night set for Wednesday, January 29 at 7:00pm. The new documentary Marvin Hamlisch: What He Did For Love is the American Masters series' Season 27 finale, premiering nationally Friday, December 27, 2013, 9-10:30 p.m. on PBS (check local listings) and available on DVD January 14, 2014 via PBS Distribution.
