The Jewish Ensemble Theatre will present the opening of their 2009-2010 season with the presentation of THE BLANK PAGE by Kitty Dubin. This is the premiere production of the play by the Michigan-born playwright. THE BLANK PAGE is directed by Gillian Eaton and the cast features Sarab Kamoo, John Lepard, Naz Edwards and Leslie Ann Handelman.

Vicki Lawrence, a 12 year veteran of 'The Carol Burnett Show' and later 'Mama's Family' will bring her one-woman show to the Thrasher-Home Center in Jacksonville. The show plays tonight, October 16 at 7:30pm. The performance combines stand-up comedy, music and portrayals of her character, Mama.

PERSISTANCE OF MEMORY, three one-act plays to benefit the charitable organization Cause Celebre. The night will feature performances by Joan Copeland, Tandy Cronyn, Rose Gregario, Bernie McInerney, Marian Seldes, Michael Citriniti, Talia Castro-Pozo, and Lee Van Bradley. Performances take place November 1 through November 22. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Columbia Psychiatry.

Music City Theatre will allow performers to take on roles usually played by the opposite gender in their SONGS WE'LL NEVER SING: BOTH SIDES OF THE STORY concert on October 16th, 17th and 18th. The cast will feature Barry Jobe, Bo Sebastian and Jeffrey Williams singing songs from Broadway hits like A Chorus Line, Mamma Mia!, Beauty and the Beast, and Rent.

The National Arts Club announced the finalists for The 24 Hour Plays will include Bekah Brunstetter, Josh Koenigsberg, Margaret McCloskey, Megan Mostyn-Brown, Harrison Rivers, and Mac Rogers for the Montblanc Writers Project. Talenthouse.com will feature portions of the plays on their website and take votes to find the winner of the contest. The winner will be the feature of the next 24 Hour Plays.

Showtime Challenge, a new theatrical format presented by Eyebrow Productions, will produce Gershwin's CRAZY FOR YOU after 48 hours of rehearsal, with the performance taking place October 18th at the London Palladium. The proceeds of the event will benefit Cecily's Fund, a UK registered charity that helps Zambian orphans and other impoverished children to go to school.

Chris Messina to Star in 'Devil'

Broadway's Chris Messina (Salome) has been cast to star in 'Devil' based on a story by M. Night Shyamalan. The film will be directed by John Erick and Drew Dowdle with a script by Brian Nelson. Filming will begin in Toronto in late October.

Broadway's BURN THE FLOOR will be featured on CBS 2 News Sunday Morning this Sunday, October 18 at 8:46 AM when anchor Dana Tyler interviews company members Robin Windsor and Sarah Soriano. WCBS airs on Channel 2 in the tri-state area. In addition, the show has announced that it will extend its current run through January 3, 2010 due to popular demand.

At the request of Shakespeare & Company, an independent financial study of the Company has been performed by the Nonprofit Finance Fund under the auspices of the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Now in its 32nd season, S&Co. is currently facing an unprecedented time of financial stress. Though the national economic downturn has indeed played a role, this stress has arisen, in large part, because of the particular pressures flowing from the Company's role as the provider of a unique and extensive scope of year-round services, and its responsibilities as the owner and steward of 33 acres in historic downtown Lenox.

City Theatre Company will celebrate one year in its new space this year. The company was formed in 2008 and had their own space five weeks later. Andy Berkovsky, the company's Artistic Director, started the company with former student Travis Tinnin, who dropped out of NYU's drama program to act at the company's production manager.
