The current touring cast of Spring Awakening will present a cabaret evening entitled 'Spring It On' in Rochester on February 11th. The concert will be presented at Multi-use Community Cultural Center (MuCCC) in Rochester, NY. 'Spring It On: A Broadway Cabaret' will be presented February 11th following the performance of Spring Awakening at the Auditorium Theatre.

Broadway star Krysta Rodriguez and composer Joe Iconis have been announced as artists for the upcoming New York Public Library Songbook Series, taking place January 25th. Additional casting includes Katrina Rose Dideriksen, Lance Rubin and Jason 'SweetTooth' Williams, all members of what is affectionately known as the Joe Iconis 'Family.'

The 39th Annual Theatre Hall of Fame ceremony will take place January 25th at the Gershwin Theatre in the North Rotunda. The list of inductees include Andrew Lloyd Webber, Lynn Redgrave, John McMartin, Stephen Schwartz, Jim Dale and more. The evening will be hosted by Pia Lindstrom.

24-year old Noortje Herlaar has won the role of Mary Poppins after competing on a Dutch television show aimed at finding actor to fill the role. Fans came out in droves to vote for Herlaar, who won the competition.

The Broadway Boys, a collection of the hottest male voices currently working on the New York stage, will present a concert of Broadway favorites, on Sunday, February 14, 3 p.m., at Westport Country Playhouse.

Director Roman Polanski is currently working on a film adaptation of Yasmina Reza's play, GOD OF CARNAGE, currently appearing on Broadway. In the current French issue of Elle Magazine, Polanski's wife, Emmanuelle Seigner, said he is currently working on the script while on house arrest in Gstaad, Switzerland.

A new promotional photo from the West End's production of the play ENRON has appeared in a new Vanity Fair feature. Inspired by the real-life financial scandal of 2001, ENRON, which was commissioned by Headlong Theatre, premiered this past summer at the Minerva Theatre Chichester, and then moved for a six-week run at The Royal Court Theatre where it played through November 8, 2009. The play will open at West End's Noel Coward Theatre later this month.

The Stonewall Democratic Club of New York City honored five community leaders and organizations at the club's fourth annual Women's Awards on Thursday, January 21, 2009 at the Stonewall Inn.

The Broadway cast of MEMPHIS will join The Actors' Chapel for a Haiti benefit concert entitled 'African Saints, African Stories: An Evening of Song and Spoken Word.' The concert will feature Dr. Camille Brown, Danny Coackley, and The Amen Choir, in addition to several MEMPHIS cast members. The concert is presented by St. Malachy's - The Actors' Chapel in conjunction with The Office of Black Ministry for the NY Archdioces and will take place at St. Malachy's on February 1st at 7:00pm.

BILLY ELLIOT, currently playing at the Imperial Theatre on Broadway starring Michael Dameski, Alex Ko, Trent Kowalik, Liam Redhead and Dayton Tavares as Bill, will dedicate the February 24th performance to The Actors Fund, granting proceeds to the fund in support of their programs and services. Stage Door Records will release of the 1980 Original London Cast Recording of the musical COLETTE by John Dankworth on February 22nd. The release will be the first time the recording has been available on CD. The musical starred Cleo Laine in the title role. The show originally opened at The Stables Theatre, Wavendon in 1979 and transferred to the Comedy Theatre, London in September 1980.

Keith Carradine, Ann Harada, and Anika Larsen have joined The New Group's 2010 Gala Benefit to honor Robyn Goodman. Goodman will be presented the Michael Mendelson Award for Outstanding Commitment to Theater. The Gala will take place January 25th at B.B. King Blues Club and Grill and will be hosted by Wallace Shawn and Jeff Whitty.

Cause Célèbre (Susan Charlotte, Founder), is a theatre company dedicated to fostering an enhanced understanding of psychological, physical and social issues. Each month a different issue will be the focal point, and the proceeds will benefit a specific charity.

Director Rob Marshall has been hired by Disney to helm the next 'Pirates of the Carribean' film. Production on the film will begin in 2010, with the majority of shooting taking place in Hawaii. The film is slated for a 2011 release. Disney has already signed Johnny Depp to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow.

'Glee' took home top honors last night at the Dorian Awards, winning the award for the TV musical or comedy of the year. In addition, the drama 'Grey Gardens,' inspired by the 1975 documentary of the same name, was named TV Drama of the Year. The Dorian Awards are presented by the newly formed Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association.

Shirley Jones, star of theatre and film, will make here UK premiere when she brings her one woman show, 'Shirley Jones in Concert,' to the West End's Arts Theatre, www.whatsonstage.com is reporting. The concert will run February 22nd through April 3rd.

Day 4 of 'American Idol' kicked off in Orlando tonight with guest judge and Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth. Many remember Chenoweth's show-stealing, Tony-winning performance in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown and her triumphant star turn when she originated the role of Glinda (or Galinda) in Wicked, which earned her a Tony Award nomination. Chenoweth most recently starred in the ABC series Pushing Daisies, for which she just won the Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She'll next be seen back on Broadway in the revival of Promises, Promises. Although Chenoweth was only available for half the episode (one day in Orlando), her presence was welcome to 'Idol' and Broadway fans alike.

The West End premiere of Douglas Carter Beane's THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED opens tonight, January 20, at London's Garrick Theatre. The cast features film star Rupert Friend alongside Tamsin Greig, Olivier Award winner for her performance in Much Ado About Nothing with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and is directed by Jamie Lloyd. The cast also features British actors Gemma Arterton and Harry Lloyd. The play began previews January 9th.

American Idol has returned for its much-anticipated ninth season - Simon Cowell's last. So far, the show has held auditions in Boston, Atlanta, and Chicago.

THE PEARL THEATRE COMPANY has announced that actress and director Amy Wright will direct the company's spring production, THE SUBJECT WAS ROSES. Ms. Wright replaces the previously announced Sheldon Patinkin, who has withdrawn from the production due to recovery and rehabilitation from recent surgery.
