Lincoln Center announced today an exciting series of artistic and educational events and initiatives to celebrate its forthcoming 50th anniversary, officially beginning with a ceremony to commemorate the institution's original groundbreaking in 1959 and ending with a campus-wide open house. The anniversary celebration coincides with the physical transformation of Lincoln Center, designed to make the campus a more open, accessible and vibrant urban destination. Ribbon cuttings will be held throughout the year as redevelopment projects are completed.

Two Major New York theatrical management and production firms have joined forces: One Viking Productions, Inc. (Carl Pasbjerg, President) and Theatre Production Group LLC (Frank P. Scardino, President) have announced a new partnership between their two companies to form Alchemy Production Group LLC. The announcement was made by Carl Pasbjerg and Frank P. Scardino.

Play It Cool started with a series of long, gabby lunches with my friend Larry Dean Harris (co-writer of the book). Larry was on the board of the Celebration Theatre in Los Angeles. They had initiated another little show I had written some songs for called 'Naked Boys Singing!'--and were in the market for another one. Both Larry and I loved old film noir and jazz-so we came up with the idea of putting them together. To be honest with you, I was all caught up in visions of slick streets, tough talking guys and good lighting so I basically left Larry alone--

The YORK THEATRE COMPANY (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) will add a performance of its hit show, ENTER LAUGHING: THE MUSICAL, on Sunday September 21st at 8 pm, in memory of Bruce Adler, who played the role of Forman in York's two previous incarnations of Enter Laughing, The Musical-in the Fall 2007 Musicals in Mufti Series, and in December 2007, when the show was brought back for an additional weekend of performances. Mr. Adler died July 25th of liver cancer; he was 63 years old. 100% of the York's revenues from the performance will go to the Adler Family, supporting an educational fund for his three surviving children.

4th Wall Theatre, a non union professional theatre in Bloomfield, NJ is presenting the New Jersey premier of 'Dessa Rose' which had its New York premier in 2005 at Lincoln Center's Mitzi E. Newhouse Theatre. The show will be directed by 4th Wall Artistic Director, Gregory G. Allen. Platform Theatre Group (Greg Tully, Producer) will present the New York revival of Lee Blessing's Two Rooms, directed by Peter Flynn, for a limited Off-Broadway engagement at the Lion Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street), beginning October 2nd. Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (David Van Asselt, Artistic Director and Sandra Coudert, Managing Director) has announced a two-week extension (through October 11) of Lady, the provocative new play by Craig Wright (The Pavilion). Directed by Dexter Bullard (Bug), the critically acclaimed production is being produced in association with Barrow Street Theatre. Performances began Thursday, August 28th, 2008. OUTSIDE INN is a murder mystery that leaps across three continents, including present-day Germany, a small town near the Arizona-Mexican border and Namibia (the former German colony). Paul, a disillusioned German civic engineer unintentionally participates in the death of his boss, a Svengali-like tycoon. Rather than going to the police, Paul runs away to a small town in Arizona. With his mistress Marina by his side, he steals the identity of his former boss and flees across the Mexican border. The husband and wife Paul and Marina leave behind must face a future alone and a past that continues to haunt them. Through monologues, music, poetry and dance, playwright Lisa McCree takes a 30-year snapshot of the lives of 11 women from the inner city in her provocative comedy about self-acceptance in a world of rejection, 'And My Name Ain't Peaches,' playing September 25 - October 5 at Access Theater. The piece earned a Human Rights Award for The Theatre Outlet, Allentown, PA, where it was originally produced in 2005.
