Lincoln Center announced today an exciting series of artistic and educational events and initiatives to celebrate its forthcoming 50th anniversary, officially beginning with a ceremony to commemorate the institution's original groundbreaking in 1959 and ending with a campus-wide open house. The anniversary celebration coincides with the physical transformation of Lincoln Center, designed to make the campus a more open, accessible and vibrant urban destination. Ribbon cuttings will be held throughout the year as redevelopment projects are completed.

Play It Cool started with a series of long, gabby lunches with my friend Larry Dean Harris (co-writer of the book). Larry was on the board of the Celebration Theatre in Los Angeles. They had initiated another little show I had written some songs for called 'Naked Boys Singing!'--and were in the market for another one. Both Larry and I loved old film noir and jazz-so we came up with the idea of putting them together. To be honest with you, I was all caught up in visions of slick streets, tough talking guys and good lighting so I basically left Larry alone--

The YORK THEATRE COMPANY (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) will add a performance of its hit show, ENTER LAUGHING: THE MUSICAL, on Sunday September 21st at 8 pm, in memory of Bruce Adler, who played the role of Forman in York's two previous incarnations of Enter Laughing, The Musical-in the Fall 2007 Musicals in Mufti Series, and in December 2007, when the show was brought back for an additional weekend of performances. Mr. Adler died July 25th of liver cancer; he was 63 years old. 100% of the York's revenues from the performance will go to the Adler Family, supporting an educational fund for his three surviving children.

Through monologues, music, poetry and dance, playwright Lisa McCree takes a 30-year snapshot of the lives of 11 women from the inner city in her provocative comedy about self-acceptance in a world of rejection, 'And My Name Ain't Peaches,' playing September 25 - October 5 at Access Theater.
