Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada used his 'Twitter' feed to comment on the upcoming musical 'SPIDER-MAN, Turn Off the Dark'. Quesada, a comic industry icon, excitedly stated that 'Spider-Man at it's core is a very 'classic' story in structure. Done well as it will be by Taymor. Bono and Edge, it will ROCK!' SPIDER-MAN, Turn Off the Dark, will open on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Broadway's Hilton Theatre, 213 West 42nd Street (preview performances will begin Saturday, January 16, 2010).

Variety is reporting that the fourth installment of 'High School Musical' will return the franchise back to where it all started: the Disney Channel.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced the Center and the National Symphony Orchestra's complete season for 2009- 2010. The New York Times reports that The National Endowment for the Arts has announced guidelines for arts groups seeking grants from the $50 million apportioned to the agency in the economic stimulus bill. The money will be distributed to state arts agencies and regional arts organizations who will sub-grant it to various cultural groups.

Philadelphia Theatre Company will present the world premiere of Terrence McNally's newest play The Golden Age as part of its 2009-2010 season. Following its run in Philadelphia, the PTC production will move to the Kennedy Center as part of its 'Terrence McNally's Nights at the Opera' Festival.

Obama on My Mind, a musical inspired by President Barack Obama, will make its world premiere in the UK on March 3rd 2009. In celebration of Barack Obama being sworn in as the 44th President of the United States today, the musical released a title track sung by Ruby Turner. Written and produced by the Ohio-born Teddy Hayes, The Obama Musical focuses on the personalities behind the Democratic candidate's campaign. Tim McArthur directs, with musical direction by Chris Jerome. Casting has not been announced at this time.

Variety is reporting that ABC has canceled Life On Mars, but will allow the police drama to complete its full one-season run. The network decided not to extend the series beyond 17 episodes.

Producer David Shor has announced he is developing Sleepless in Seattle-The Musical through his entity Sleepless in Seattle Management, LLC. Shor acquired the rights to produce a play based on the hit TriStar motion picture and has brought in his longtime partner Jeff Arch, who penned the film's original story and co-wrote the screenplay, sharing 1994 Oscar, BAFTA and WGA nominations with Nora Ephron and David Ward. Arch will write the book for the show.

The 'annual migration North' is happening a little earlier this year as South Florida returns to New York in Flamingo Court. Written by Luigi Creatore and directed by directed by Steven Yuhasz, Flamingo Court will play at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street) beginning April 18 through September 6, 2009.
