Durang's 'WHY TORTURE IS WRONG' Opens 4/6April 6, 2009The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) began previews on Tuesday, March 24 for Christopher Durang's comedy WHY TORTURE IS WRONG, AND THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE THEM. This world premiere, directed by Nicholas Martin, will run through April 26 with an official press opening on Monday, April 6 at 7 PM.
'THE TOXIC AVENGER' Opens at New World Stages 4/6April 6, 2009The Toxic Avenger, the brand new musical about New Jersey's first superhero, features a score by Bon Jovi's David Bryan and Joe Di Pietro. The cast includes Nancy Opel, Sara Chase, Nick Cordero, Demond Green and Matthew Saldivar. Tony Award-winner John Rando directs. The Toxic Avenger began performances on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street). Opening Night is tonight, Monday, April 6th.
Laurel Mill Playhouse Holds 'FATHER OF THE BRIDE' Auditions 4/14 - 4/15April 6, 2009Laurel Mill Playhouse, 508 Main Street, Laurel, Md. will hold auditions for 11 men and 7 women plus extras, ages 15 to 55, on Tuesday, April 14 at 7:00 pm and Wednesday, April 15 at 7pm. Director Michael Hartsfield will have sides available for cold readings from the script of Father of the Bride. Produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., Father of Bride will run June 5 through June 28 on Friday and Saturday evenings with two selected Sunday matinees.

Resident Director Chuck Smith, who previously collaborated with Wilson on the Goodman's 2004/2005 Chicago-premiere production of The Story, will direct The Good Negro in the Albert Theatre in Spring 2010.

'GALILEO' & 'SCIENCE PLAYS' Lead Milk Can Theatre's 2009 SeasonApril 5, 2009The Milk Can Theatre Company has announced its spring 2009 season: Galileo, written by Bertolt Brecht and directed by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer, and The Science Plays, six short plays inspired by the history of science. Galileo and The Science Plays will run in repertory April 30 through May 17. All performances will take place at Urban Stages, 259 West 30th Street.
