Philadelphia Theatre Workshop is presenting its fifth season of bringing new voices into the regional theatre landscape. The 2008-2009 season is featuring a world premiere from local playwright, a Philadelphia premiere from a rising new talent, and the second annual Playshops Festival.

Acclaimed actress and performer Glenn Close addressed the Savannah College of Art and Design graduating class of 2009 at commencement ceremonies in Savannah and Atlanta, May 30. Close spoke to graduates at SCAD's 29th Savannah commencement ceremony, 9 a.m., at the Savannah Civic Center, 301 W. Oglethorpe Ave. She then addressed graduates at SCAD-Atlanta's third commencement ceremony at the Georgia World Congress Center (Sidney Marcus Auditorium, Building A), 285 Andrew Young International Blvd. N.W.

The top-rated morning program 'Live with Regis and Kelly' welcomed Adam Lambert this past week to sing for a very eager 'Live' audience! Lambert is now a household name thanks to his exposure on AMERICAN IDOL, the singing sensation hit New York City this week and the Season 8 runner-up has been making the media rounds all over town.

Pushing Daisies' final three filmed episodes will begin airing tonight, May 30th. The remaining episodes will air in the next consecutive Saturdays through June 13th.

GLEE, the new one-hour musical comedy series fromRyan Murphy ('Nip/Tuck'), got a special preview following AMERICAN IDOL Tuesday, May 19 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. That preview episode is now online on Fox's official web site for the show.

Sunset Boulevard at the West End's intimate Comedy Theatre closes today May 30, 2009. UK theatre sources are reporting that plans are in the works to launch a UK tour in early 2010 as well as some talk of bringing the production to New York, but no official announcement has yet been made.

David Mamet's 'Oleanna' opens at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum on Friday, June 5, at 8 p.m. Featuring Bill Pullman and Julia Stiles under the direction of Tony Award-winner Doug Hughes, 'Oleanna' continues through July 12.

Spring Awakening will end performances at the Novello Theatre today, May 30th. The musical was originally set to run until October 31st, 2009, but has closed earlier than expected.

CBS The Early Show's Harry Smith hosts a line-up of performances from musicals of the 2008-2009 Broadway Season. The Visa Signature Tony Awards Preview Concert will air in New York on WCBS-TV (Channel 2) on May 30th at 7:00 p.m.and on CBS affiliates and O&O's nationwide from May 29th - June 6th.

The New York Times is reporting that President Obama and his wife, Michelle, plan to visit New York City tomorrow, Saturday, May 30th and take in a Broadway show, the August Wilson play 'Joe Turner's Come and Gone' at the Belasco Theater on West 44th Street. The news of the First Couple's visit was revealed to The Times by three theater executives who had been informed of the First Family's plans.

Singer/songwriter, actor and author Ashanti will make her stage debut as Dorothy in the New York City Center Encores! Summer Stars production of The Wiz, June 12 - July 5 at New York City Center (W. 55th Street between 6th & 7th Avenues). The Wiz, the 1974 rock and soul musical based on the beloved L. Frank Baum story about Dorothy and her adventures in Oz, will be directed by Thomas Kail and choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler, with music direction by Alex Lacamoire, (the team responsible for the Tony-winning In the Heights).

Two-time Tony Award winner Chita Rivera graces the stage of Walt Disney Concert Hall for the first time in Chita Rivera: The Secret of Life, Saturday, June 6, at 8 p.m. The triple-threat - singer/actress/dancer - accompanied by her longtime musical trio, performs songs from her legendary Broadway career, including numbers from West Side Story ('America'), Sweet Charity ('Where Am I Going?' and 'Big Spender'), Chicago ('All That Jazz' and 'Nowadays'), Kiss of the Spider Woman, Bye, Bye Birdie and The Rink.

Academy and Tony Award-Winning actor and photographer Joel Grey celebrated the release of his new book, titled 1.3 - Images from My Phone, at Barnes at Noble Tribeca (97 Warren St. at Greenwich St.) on Tuesday, May 26 at 7:00 p.m. The book, published by powerHouse, is Grey's third published book of photographs and will be available in stores nationwide June 2.
