Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus' global smash hit musical MAMMA MIA! will officially become the 15th longest-running show in Broadway history on Saturday, June 27th when it plays its 3,183 performance, surpassing the record previously held by the play Tobacco Road.

Piers Morgan was at the judging table when Britain's Got Talent's Susan Boyle wowed the audience -- and subsequently the world, via YouTube -- with her stirring, unexpected rendition of 'I Dreamed a Dream' from Les Miserables. He watched as she went all the way to the finals, coming in second place. Morgan wrote an essay in the UK's Daily Mail about his thoughts, hopes and dreams for Susan Boyle. He also remarks that he believes she is ready to be a true 'star.'

Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty and Terrence McNally's RAGTIME, which was a critically acclaimed sell out at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. now looks set to bring it's 'new music' to Broadway. While there is no official word or comment an Equity casting notice has been posted to Backstage for a Broadway/Production contract for RAGTIME. The notice states rehearsal and performance dates are to be announced. Equity principal auditions will be held June 22, 24 and 25 while Equity chorus calls are June 26 for dancers and June 23 for singers.

Popular Dance show BURN THE FLOOR will play Broadway's Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street) for a limited run beginning July 25, with an opening night set for August 2. Notice of the upcoming run was posted on the show's website, however no official announcement has yet been made. The production will run through Sunday, October 18.

Two of the three 'Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical' Tony winning 'Billys', Trent Kowalik and Kiril Kulish were cheered on their Tony honor by fellow young talents BKC. The fun took place at East of Doheny in New York City on June 10, 2009 and BWW was there to join in the celebration!

My Pal Bette, a one act play that was a smash hit at the 2007 Orlando International Fringe Festival, is making its NY premiere this summer at The Producer's Club. Written by John Ryan, My Pal Bette stars Tammy Kopko as Bette Davis, the razor-mouthed, high-ball drinking, chain-smoking screen siren and unlikely mentor to pre-pubescent Tommy Klein.

On Friday, May 15th 2009, Scott Schechter died of a sudden heart attack. Scott was instrumental in many re-releases of Liza and Judy's work and was spearheading the upcoming release of Judy & Liza Live at the Pallaium CD when he died. Disney Theatrical Productions presents Drew Seeley, star of 'Another Cinderella Story,' as Prince Eric in THE LITTLE MERMAID. Seeley made his Broadway debut in the production last night, Tuesday, June 9th. He will appear though Sunday, August 30th at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater (205 West 46th Street). Drew Seeley joins Broadway's newest 'Ariel' Chelsea Morgan Stock who began performances on Tuesday, June 2nd.

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director; Ellen Richard, Executive Director) will conclude its 30th Anniversary mainstage season with the New York premiere of VANITIES, a new musical written by Jack Heifner, featuring music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum, directed by Judith Ivey. With musical staging by Dan Knechtges, VANITIES will feature Lauren Kennedy, Sarah Stiles, and Anneliese van der Pol and will begin preview performances on Thursday, July 2. Opening night is Thursday, July 16 at 6:30pm

As part of their private visit to London, First Lady Michelle Obama and First Daughters Sasha and Malia Obama joined an audience of over 2000 theatre-goers at the Tuesday, June 9th West End performance of Disney's THE LION KING at the Lyceum Theatre. The visit to the award-winning musical was in celebration of Sasha's 8th birthday.

It was 'nothing but a good time' on Saturday June 6th, when POISON band members Bobby Dall, C.C. Deville and Rikki Rockett visited the critically acclaimed, Five-time Tony Award nominated, 'ROCK OF AGES' last night on Broadway and showed their love for the show by hanging out backstage after the performance. POISON performed with the cast on the Sunday night June 7th telecast of the Tony Awards.

The first New York Times Outstanding Playwright Award, a prize to honor an American playwright with a recent professional theater debut in New York City, was awarded to Tarell Alvin McCraney for his play 'The Brothers Size.'

Guys and Dolls will close on Broadway on June 14th, the show will have played 28 previews and 113 performances. Guys and Dolls stars Oliver Platt ('Nathan Detroit'), Lauren Graham ('Miss Adelaide'), Craig Bierko ('Sky Masterson') and Kate Jennings Grant ('Sarah Brown'). The first joint Broadway project by two-time Tony Award winning director Des McAnuff and choreographer Sergio Trujillo since their collaboration on the Tony Award winning musical Jersey Boys, Guys and Dolls began previews on February 5th, 2009 at Broadway's newly refurbished Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41st Street). There's something special about hearing the natural sound of human voices in the theater. They become a symphony of verbosity akin to a chamber ensemble performing in a first rate concert hall. There are nuances and colors that are to be detected without the aid of amplification. Such is the case with the Roundabout Theatre Company's production of THE PHILANTHROPIST which is currently on stage at the American Airlines Theatre.

Today Tuesday, June 9th, 19 Recordings, the music division of 19 Entertainment which produces AMERICAN IDOL has announced in a news release that it had signed Adam Lambert, to a recording contract and that he would release his debut album on RCA Records in the fall.
