The McCallum Theatre welcomes the return of Lily Tomlin and "An Evening of Classic Lily Tomlin" on Saturday, January 12, at 8:00pm. Lily Tomlin has been delighting audiences since the first time she muttered "one ringy-dingy" on Rowan & Martin's "Laugh-In." In this hilarious one-woman show, Lily performs more than a dozen of her timeless characters, from Ernestine to Mrs. Beasley to Edith Ann. The Grammy, Tony, and Emmy winner uses a fantastic range of voices, gestures, and movements to conjure up a cast of characters "with all the apparent ease of a magician pulling a whole menagerie of animals from a single hat" (New York Daily News). This warm and affecting performance is filled with comic insights and wry, witty observations about the human condition.

The McCallum Theatre presents Keyboard Conversations® with Jeffrey Siegel on Monday, January 7, at 7:00pm. This evening's program, "Joyous Music of Beethoven," features some of Beethoven's most joyous compositions for piano, including "Polonaise in C Major, Op. 89," Adagio cantabile, Op. 13," "Presto con fuoco, Op. 31, No. 3," "Sonata No. 24 in F-Sharp Major, Op. 78," and "Sonata No. 26 in E-flat Major, Op. 81a." American pianist Jeffrey Siegel has been soloist with the world's great orchestras.  Abroad, these include the Berlin Philharmonic, London Symphony, Philharmonic and Philharmonia, Moscow State Symphony, Munich's Bayerischer Rundfunk, the Philharmonic Orchestras of Amsterdam and Oslo, as well as Stockholm, the Orchestra of La Scala and NHK Symphony of Japan.

The McCallum Theatre welcomes the return of Jackie Evancho for one performance on Friday, January 11, at 8:00pm. Since she first dazzled American television audiences at the age of 10 with her stunning debut on "America's Got Talent," Jackie has released a string of Platinum and Gold albums, with sales of over 2.5 million in the U.S and #1 spots on the Billboard Classical chart. She also made history as the youngest solo Platinum artist, the youngest Top 5 debut artist in the U.K., the youngest person to give a solo concert at Lincoln Center, and the highest-ranking debut artist of 2010. 

Theatre 29 has completed casting for the first show of the 2019 "Best Of" season, the hilarious comedy, 'Bad Year for Tomatoes', first produced there in 2009. The season will feature favorite shows from the past 19 years as Theatre 29 launches its 20th year. "A Bad Year for Tomatoes" marks the main stage directing Debut for veteran actress and singer Char Childs, a familiar talent to Theatre 29 audiences having been involved in 21 shows there since 2002.

 Coyote StageWorks, the Coachella Valley-based award-winning Actors' Equity professional theater company, announced that it has added three more FREE plays to its popular free "Play Dates" Reader's Series. Play Dates is a free Educational Community Outreach Program that features fresh or classic, compelling scripts read by new and established actors and are offered at the Camelot Theatre/Palm Springs Cultural Center. The upcoming new Play Dates are "Eugene Walter At Large" (a new, original work) on December 16, "Lips Together, Teeth Apart" (a revisiting of a modern classic on the 25th anniversary of its original Off-Broadway production) on February 24, and "A Doll's House, Part 2" (a 2017 Tony Award winner and recently listed as 'The most produced play of the season in the US.') on June 2.  All events start at 2 PM and are free and open to the public. Tickets are available on the day of the reading at the Palm Springs Cultural Center/Camelot Theatre on a 'first-come, first-served' basis.

Palm Springs audiences will not have to wait for Santa, Feliz NaviDivas is playing Dec 12-16, 2018 with only 4 performances!  Chico's Angels return to Oscar's Cafe & Bar in Palms Springs, CA .  Chico's Angels will hit the stage with their holiday show titled Chico's Angels in Feliz NaviDivas!    The Angels have their cha cha stockings hanging on the fire place waiting for Santa to visit and bring these heavenly Angles tamales for all!!!  

Celebrated Producer Michael Childers will bring his latest edition of One Night Only to The McCallum Theatre on April 24, 2019 with a star-studded cast including Christine Andreas, John Barrowman, Liz Calloway and more. This season's ONO is a tribute to Andrew Lloyd Webber and proceeds will benefit The Barbara Sinatra Children's Center. I had the chance to catch up with Michael as he was crafting this season's sell-out event. Here are a few excerpts from that conversation:

The McCallum Theatre presents Dave Koz & Friends 'Christmas Tour 2018' on Tuesday, December 18, at 8:00pm as part of the Fitz's Jazz Cafe at the McCallum series. A holiday tradition returns to the McCallum as Dave Koz and Friends Christmas Tour 2018 brings together a magical combination of musicians to celebrate this special season. Celebrated saxophonist Koz will be joined by special guests Mindi Abair, Jonathan Butler and Keiko Matsui performing their hits and jamming on fresh, lively arrangements of seasonal favorites in a high-energy show for the entire family. 

The McCallum Theatre presents Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcrackeron Monday, December 17, at 7:00pm. All ages are invited to celebrate Christmas with the Moscow Ballet company of almost 40 ballerinas and danseurs. Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker is known for its award-winning principal dancers, lavish costumes in the style of the Victorian era, backdrops created by La La Land Set Concept designer Carl Sprague, and its Russian focus, including life-sized Matryoshka Dolls, Russian folk legends Ded Moroz (Father Christmas) and Snegurochka (Snow Maiden) and Troika Sleigh. Adults and children will enjoy the special effects of the flapping winged owl on the Grandfather clock, the growing 50' tall Christmas Tree, the Dove of Peace with a 20' wingspan, and, of course, the leaps, spins, and extraordinary moves of the company all performed to Tchaikovsky's complete and incomparable score. 

Italian Tenor Pasquale Esposito returns to The Annenberg Theatre, located at The Palm Springs Arts Museum, for his fifth appearance on December 7 at 8:00 pm. The concert celebrates Italian Piazzas and is the live version of his newest PBS special. I had the opportunity to catch up with Mr. Esposito as he was preparing for his Palm Springs concert. Here are a few excerpts from that interview:

The McCallum Theatre presents LeAnn Rimes, with Barry Zito, on Saturday, December 15, at 8:00pm. LeAnn will present "You and Me and Christmas," about which she says, "I love everything about the holidays and want to share the magic and joy of the season with my fans. I look forward to playing some of my favorite Christmas classics in an intimate, cozy setting." Multi-Platinum selling LeAnn Rimes has sold more than 44 million records, won two Grammy Awards, 12 Billboard Music Awards, two World Music Awards, three Academy of Country Music Awards, one Country Music Association Award, and one Dove Award. At 14, LeAnn, won 'Best New Artist," the youngest recipient ever to win a Grammy Award.

The McCallum Theatre presents Celtic Woman in their "The Best of Christmas Tour" on Friday, December 14, at 8:00pm. Celebrate this holiday season with multi-Platinum Irish singing sensation Celtic Woman. Featuring music from Celtic Woman's second Christmas album, Home for Christmas, including holiday favorites 'I'll Be Home for Christmas' and 'Silent Night.' Celtic Woman promises a festive evening filled with mesmerizing music and holiday cheer. 

After surviving a tumultuous election season and, let's face it, a pretty scathing couple of years of anger, hatred and division, sometimes you just need to grab a couple hours of joy wherever you can find it. Last night I found my joy at The McCallum Theatre as The Ten Tenors opened a six show stretch, breaking their thirty sold-out show record with standing room only attendance. They are, in fact, the most popular group in the history of the McCallum Theatre. (In fact, as they proclaim from the stage, they consider The McCallum their 'home away from home') And there is no doubt as to why.. Their stunning vocal prowess in combination with slick production and wry Aussie humor makes for an evening that is both the icing and the cake!

The McCallum Theatre presents Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox on Saturday, December 8, at 8:00pm. Featuring a rotating collective of virtuosic vocalists with sizzling stage presence, Postmodern Jukebox performs pop music in a time machine, reimagining Top 40 hits by artists such as Beyonce, Celine Dion, Radiohead and more with vintage, Gatsby-esque glam and a contagious energy that will have audiences' toes tapping.
