Theatre legend Patti LuPone has issued a response regarding the recent run-in with a Las Vegas audience member who was texting during the show. The action forced LuPone to stop the show, and calmly repremand the texter.

Cher has signed on to star alongside Christina Aguilera in the Screen Gems' movie musical 'Burlesque'. The Oscar winning singer/actress will be playing the owner of the burlesque club where Aguilera's character works.

Kevin Spacey has spoken out to clarify that he is not considering a reality television show to be filmed at the Old Vic Theatre. The confusion comes immediately following an interview where the actor hinted at a similar idea.

Mel Brooks will once again have audiences roaring with laughter when his hilarious smash-hit comedy, The Producers, opens on Lakewood Theatre's main stage Friday, July 10. The show runs in all its outrageous, madcap glory through August 23. Directed by Alan Shearman (A Flea In Her Ear, Accomplice, Lend Me A Tenor) with musical direction by Jeffrey Kauffman and choreography by Erin Shannon (Wild Party, Pippin) the show promises to make everyone's summer a whole lot brighter? and funnier.

ROCK OF AGES star Amy Spanger will continue with the hit Broadway musical, according to a statement from the show's producers. Spanger has not appeared in the musical since June 8th, leaving fans of the show to speculate the cause of her absence, and if she would return to the show. Spanger will return June 29th.

13P (Thirteen Playwrights, Inc), the OBIE Award-winning theater company made up of 13 playwrights, will present Lucy Thurber's (P#8) 'MONSTROSITY,' directed by Lear deBessonet. 'MONSTROSITY,' featuring a cast of 21, will be performed at The Connelly Theatre, 220 East 4th Street (between Avenues A and B), with performances running from July 9 through 19, 2009 for a total of twelve performances. (Evening performances will all be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9; Friday, July 10; Saturday, July 11; Sunday, July 12; Tuesday, July 14; Wednesday, July 15; Thursday, July 16; Friday, July 17; and Saturday, July 18. There will be three matinee performances at 1:00 p.m. on: Saturdays, July 11 and 18 and Sunday, July 19 (the final performance of 'MONSTROSITY' will be the matinee on July 19). Actor T. Scott Cunningham, a founding member of Drama Dept. and The Vineyard Community of Artists, died at NYU Medical Center in New York City on Saturday, June 20 from complications due to pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, according to Sam Rudy, a spokesperson for The Vineyard Theatre. Mr. Cunningham was 47 years old.

'HAIR Week' On Broadway's exclusive look into the revival of HAIR, in celebration of the release of Ghostlight Records' New Broadway Cast Recording (in stores June 23), will also include special guest DJ sessions with members of the 'tribe.' Beginning Monday, June 22 through Friday, June 26 at 9:00 am and 9:00 pm ET, the 'tribe' members will play music from the new cast album and share stories about what goes on behind the scenes at the Hirschfeld Theatre.

Primary Stages (Casey Childs, Founder & Executive Producer; Andrew Leynse, Artistic Director; Elliot Fox, Managing Director) launches its 25th anniversary season of new works celebrating the female playwright with the world premiere of A Lifetime Burning by Cusi Cram. Cape Rep Theatre proudly announces the extension of its production of the Marie Jones comedy Stones in His Pockets. Stones in His Pockets is directed by Kennedy Center Gold Medallion recipient, Steve Reynolds. Stones in His Pockets will open June 25, and was originally scheduled to run through July 18, however additional dates have now been added. The show will have added performances July 21-July 25. These performances will be held 'under the stars' in the Outdoor Theatre.
