The Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance has announced its upcoming workshops and events.

East West Players (EWP), the nation's premier Asian American theatre, will recognize Pixar Films with the EWP Visionary Award on their feature animation film Up. Jordan Nagai, the voice of Russell from the animated film Up, will be recognized with the Breakout Performance Award at East West Players 44th Anniversary Visionary Awards and Silent Auction, which takes place at the Hilton Universal City on Monday, April 19, 2010.

Deborah Burton, Assistant Professor of Music (Composition and Theory) at the College of Fine Arts at Boston University, gives a presentation entitled "Mozart and Musical Mad Men" for the 2010 Hartt Music Theory Forum on April 26, at 7:30 PM in Room 342 of the Fuller Music Center, on the University of Hartford campus. This event is free and open to the public.

The Hartt School's Theatre Division presents The Importance of Being Earnest, Thursday, April 8, Friday, April 9, and Saturday, April 10, at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, April 11, at 3:00 PM. Performances are in the Edward C. and Ann T. Roberts Foundation Theater at the Mort and Irma Handel Performing Arts Center, 35 Westbourne Parkway, Hartford.

Different Stages continues its 2009-2010 season with The Carpetbagger's Children by Horton Foote, Pulitzer Prize and Oscar winning author of plays and screenplays such as The Trip to Bountiful, Tender Mercies and To Kill a Mockingbird.

Chicago Dramatists, 1105 W. Chicago Avenue, is proud present the world premiere of Jade Heart, the spellbinding new play by Senior Network Playwright Will Cooper. Chicago Dramatists' Artistic Director Russ Tutterow will direct. The production will open May 1 in conjunction with the start of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and run through May 30. A special reception sponsored by Pronto 'Za will follow the 8 p.m. performance.

The New York Philharmonic Ensembles, composed of Musicians from the Orchestra, will give its sixth and final performance of the 2009-10 season on Sunday, May 16, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at Merkin Concert Hall. The program will feature Eric Ewazen's Trio for Trumpet, Violin, and Piano; Loeffler's Deux Rapsodies; and Dohnányi's Piano Quintet No. 1.

Actors Peter Badalamenti, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Andy Serkis and Wes Studi will join several crew members from the Oscar®-winning films "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" (2008) and "Avatar" (2009) in exploring the revolutionary developments in digital technology and its impact on acting at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' presentation of "Acting in the Digital Age" on Thursday, April 22, at 8 p.m. at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

Jazz Vocalist Alison Ruble, a rising star on the jazz circuit, will appear at the Blue Wisp in Cincinnati, Ohio on Friday, April 30th at 8:30 p.m. Alison will feature music from her upcoming CD release, 'ASHLAND', on Origin Records, scheduled to be released this summer!

The California Musical Theatre presentation of the national tour of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE, THE MUSICAL open at the Community Center Theater on Wednesday, April 14 for a two-week engagement. The national tour stops in Sacramento April 14-25.

The 2010 Festival of New American Musicals, a three month musical theatre festival, will be held May 16 through August 21 2010, throughout Southern California. Marcia Seligson, Bob Klein, and Linda Shusett are the Executive Producers of the annual festival, now in its third year.
