Arizona Theatre Company's own Latino Playwriting Award-Winner, The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity by Kristoffer Diaz, was honored as a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The Pulitzer was awarded to Next to Normal, the Tony Award-winning rock musical by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey.

Company members of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE, THE MUSICAL arriving at The Sacramento Community Center Theatre on April 14, 2010 will help build a house at a Habitat for Humanity Sacramento build on April 16 at 10:00 a.m. on Mahogany Street in Del Paso Heights. This build is part of a nationwide effort between Habitat for Humanity International and Little House on the Prairie to raise awareness about the need for affordable housing. Angela Lansbury, the great star of stage, film, and television, was honored tonight with the first Stephen Sondheim Award, given by Virginia's Signature Theatre at a black-tie Gala Benefit at the Embassy of Italy. The Sondheim Award, established by Signature last year in the name of America's most influential contemporary musical theater writer and composer, was presented to the actress by Mr. Sondheim himself.

Actor-comedian Patton Oswalt has been cast in the co-starring leading role on 'Beach Lane,' a half-hour comedy pilot for NBC.

According to a report on Deadline.com, Universal Pictures has acquired Seth MacFarlane's 'Ted' - an R-rated comedy budgeted at $65 million. MacFarlane will make is feature film directorial debut with the movie.

On Thursday evening, July 22, 2010, The American Society of Music Arrangers & Composers will host the Annual Golden Score Awards, hosted by actor/producer Rob Reiner, at the Universal Hilton Hotel in Universal City. The 2010 Golden Score Award will be presented to the multi-talented award winning film, television and theatrical composer, lyricist and arranger Marc Shaiman. And, the Award for Lifetime Achievement in Arranging will be presented to the prolific arranger / conductor Sammy Nestico.

Producer Sid Ganis announced today that Don Mischer Productions will join him in producing the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Second Annual Governors Awards. One or more of the Academy's highest honors - the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award and the Honorary Award - will be presented at the event, set for Saturday, November 13.

'Frank Wildhorn & Friends' performed in Osaka, Japan March 12 through March 21. The concert, presented in Tokyo and Osaka, was the first concert event in the history of Japanese theatre that features a whole program of music by a living American composer. MTV has picked up a second season of the original docu-series 'The Buried Life' set to air later this year. The announcement was made today by Tony DiSanto, President of Programming for MTV. 'The Buried Life' follows the real-life adventures of Duncan, Ben, Jonnie and Dave, as they travel the country trying to complete a list of '100 things they want to do before they die.'
