According to whatsonstage.com, Andrew Lloyd Webber's son, Nick Lloyd Webber, has recently completed writing a new, high-scale musical entitled THE LITTLE PRINCE. Based on the classic French book, THE LITTLE PRINCE will be an English interpretation of the well-known story. The younger Lloyd Webber is hoping to premiere the project in the of Winter 2010/11 and is cureently seeking a venue.

Nintendo WII plans to release a new video game entitled, 'Dance on Broadway' on June 15, 2010. Musical theatre fans will learn original choreography to a variety of popular shows that have graced the great white way. Featured shows include LEGALLY BLONDE, HAIR, DREAMGIRLS, HAIRSPRAY, and more!

Joel Zwick returned to his alma mater, James Madison High School, on May 16 to be honored for the school's 'Wall of Distinction', according to The NY Post. The award is given annually to famous alumni of the Brooklyn public school. In addition to Zwick, Madison's other 2010 honorees include the late Cal Abrams, Judith Blun Sheindlin (aka Judge Judy), Maury Allen and Deborah Tobias Poritz, among others.

According to whatsonstage.com, British actress Maria Friedman will direct a revival of Sondheim's MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG at The Menier Chocolate Factory, in celebration of Sondheim's 80th birthday. Dates for the production are unknown at this time. Friedman is n stranger to the piece. She has not only appeared in the production, but also recently directed a student production at the Central School of Speech and Drama. The Menier Chocolate Factory has previously hosted other Sondheim revivals such as SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE and SWEENEY TODD.

On Monday, May 24, the National Arts Club hosted a pre-release celebration party for Mickey Rapkin's 'Theater Geek.' 'Theater Geek' tells the story of Stagedoor Manor's rich history and amazing track record for producing the next generation of stars. 'Theater Geek,' penned by GQ Senior Editor and author of 'Pitch Perfect,' is published by Free Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, Inc. and will be released June 1, 2010.

Starting May 27, 2010, Lucille Lortel Award-winning actress, Iris Bahr will star in the new HDNet comedy series, 'Svetlana'. The series explores the trials and tribulations of Svetlana Maksimovoskaya (Bahr), a Russian madam and political consultant. 'Svetlana' airs Thursday, May 27 at 10:30 p.m. ET on HDNet.

Actress and Broadway veteran, Lea Michele, is featured on the June 2010 cover of 'Women's Health' magainze. Lea joins GLEE castmates, Matthew Morrison and Mark Salling, who have also been featured in June magazines. PS Classics' release of 'Life Begins at 8:40' is now available for pre-order purchase on psclassics.com and ITunes! The CD will be available in stores on June 8. The Harold Arlen, Ira Gershwin and Yip Harburg collabrative revue was presented in concert at The Library of Congress on March 22 with Kate Baldwin, Montego Glover, Philip Chaffin, Christopher Fitzgerald, Rebecca Luker, Brad Oscar, Graham Rowat, Jessica Stone and Faith Prince. Both the concert and the recording were conducted by Aaron Grandy. According to Playbill.com, The CD package will include a 32-page color booklet with essay, complete lyrics and glossary.

Tony Award-winning actor John Lloyd Young (Jersey Boys, GLEE) joined Grammy-winning and Tony and Emmy-nominated songwriter Allee Willis (The Color Purple, Friends) on Sunday, May 23 to host FOOD FOR THOUGHT, the world premiere exhibition of Young's artwork. Young specializes in Pop Kitsch art, and FOOD FOR THOUGHT spotlights pieces that play off iconic comfort food and drinks, including mac ‘n' cheese, Good & Plenty®, Grape Crush®, and Hungry-Man® frozen dinners. The event was a fundraiser for AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA). VIP guests included Lesley Ann Warren (Desperate Housewives, Will & Grace), Ricki Lake and Charles Phoenix. FOOD FOR THOUGHT took place at Willis Wonderland, Willis' private studio and home to the world's largest collection of Kitsch.

Today, Tuesday, May 25, The Kennedy Center announced that Tina Fey is the 2010 recipient of the Mark Twain Prize of American Humor. Established in 1998, the annual award is to an individual who has had an impact on American society in ways similar to 19th century novelist and essayist, Mark Twain. The ceremony, to be held Tuesday November 9, will feature a lineup of the biggest names in comedy, and will be taped for television broadcast.

Beginning June 14, Russ Abbot will reprise his previous West End role in the musical OLIVER! Abbot will once again play Fagin, the lead pickpocket. The production is currently playing at Theatre Royal in London. OLIVER! currently features WICKED alum, Kerry Ellis as Nancy Sikes, and Steven Hartley as Bill Sikes.

Kelli O'Hara, who originated the role of Nelli Forbush in the SOUTH PACIFIC revival, will perform 'Stardust'. Finally, in the second half of the gala, David Henry Hwang will present his world premiere play, based on a children's book written by Brian Green. Tony Award winner John Lithgow will narrate.

According to The Orlando Sentinel, Antonio Banderas has begun work on his 'Shrek' spin-off, set for release in Winter 2011. The film will follow Banderas' character, Puss in Boots, before his first appearance in 'Shrek 2'.

After the winner of the Andrew Lloyd Webber's reality show, 'Over the Rainbow' is announced on Saturday, May 22, the new Dorothy will record and release a cover of the Judy Garland song of the same title. All proceeds will benefit Prostate UK and The BBC Performing Arts Fund. The cover will be available to download Sunday, May 23 and for purchase on Monday, May 31.

According to IMDB.com, 'Sex and The City 2' star, Sarah Jessica Parker, is putting her career on hold to focus on raising her three children. Recently, Parker expressed plans to return to Broadway. Parker's first Broadway role was in the play, THE INNOCENTS, at the young age of 11. Then, in 1977, she performed in the classic musical, ANNIE.

According to the U.K. Daily Mirror, Simon Cowell will be knighted on June 12, 2010. The American Idol judge will be honored by Queen Elizabeth II at her birthday celebration. Cowell will enter into knighthood thanks to his charity work with victims of the Haiti earthquake, as well as his many contributions to the music industry.

After announcing its cancellation last week, NBC's 'Law & Order' might be picked up by cable network, TNT, according to Deadline.com. TNT already airs re-runs of the 20 season show. According to the report, 'Law & Order' creator, Dick Wolf plans to air the show's 21st season on TNT.
