SOFÍA VERGARA, LATINA STAR OF STAGE AND FILM TO BRING MAJOR HEAT TO MIAMI FEATURED AS MATRON MAMA MORTON IN THE TONY® AWARD?WINNING MUSICAL CHICAGO AT THE ADRIENNE ARSHT CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY

CIRQUE DREAMS JUNGLE FANTASY has been proclaimed, 'The grandest circus spectacle east of Vegas' by New York Magazine. The show, which made its Broadway debut in June 2008, is the first of its kind ever to perform on Broadway. CIRQUE DREAMS JUNGLE FANTASY will soar into the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts beginning Tuesday, May 12 through Sunday, May 17, 2009 presented by RRA Broadway Across America - Miami, Florida Theatrical Association and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County. As the final stop on the US National Tour, this will be the last time audiences will be able to see the production in the United States.

Florida Repertory Theatre announces general auditions for Equity Performers and Local Professionals for roles in its 12th season. Auditions will be held at the Arcade Theatre on Monday, May 11 (2pm-7pm) and Tuesday, May 12 (10am-3pm).

On Mother's Day Weekend May 9th and 10th, Florida Studio Theatre will partner with Westfield to perform for the Sarasota Community. Admission is Free.

Over the past 18 months, the Mystery Festival has hosted such talent as Gene Hackman, Mary Higgins Clark, Josh Hutcherson (Journey to Center of the Earth), Anthony E. Zuiker (creator of C.S.I.), Rene' Balcer (creator of Law and Order :Criminal Intent), Bill Link (creator - Columbo and Murder She Wrote) Sue Grafton (The Alphabet Mysteries) and a dozen of others. All took active parts in a number of duties & activities during the Festivals.

The auditions will be held on Sunday, May 10th, 2 to 5 pm in the theater. Artistic director, Danny Weathers, will be seeing people for next season's production of 'Twelve Angry Men,' the musical, 'The Full Monty' and 'BitchSlap!' Casting for these shows may not be finalized until the fall, but the hope is to cast some of the roles from these auditions and possibly for future productions.

'Mary McConaughey Here,' a short comedy by Key West playwright Connie Hurst, features a feisty Irish matron with the pluck of Granny from 'The Beverly Hillbillies' and the dry wit of Sophia from 'The Golden Girls.' Joanna, who's certain she knows her mother better than anyone, discovers a different side to Mary in the final moments of the play.

ArtServe and title sponsor BankAtlantic recently announced the winners of this annual ArtServe Encore Awards program, emceed this year by CBS4/My33 News Reporter Joan Murray, in recognition of those who have shown outstanding dedication and support of the Broward County arts and cultural community.

Broward Cultural Division, The Community Partnership for Arts and Culture (CPAC), and ArtServe, Inc. announced The Artist as an Entrepreneur Institute (AEI) for South Florida artists to be presented on four Saturdays in June 2009 at ArtServe, Inc., 1350 East Sunrise Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.

Broward Cultural Division's Public Art and Design Program is seeking to commission a graphic artist to create and produce a package of artistic design services and products for the Animal Care Facility Project in Davie. Theresa Rebeck's 'Mauritius,' a Broadway Hit which made it Southeastern Premiere at New Theatre on April 16th has been extended through May 24, 2009.

The luncheon also featured a sneak-preview of the 2009-2010 RRA-Broadway Across America Miami season, which will feature The Color Purple, October 27-November 1, 2009; 101 Dalmatians, December 30, 2009-January 3, 2010; Wicked, March 3-21, 2010; Mamma Mia!, March 30-April 4, 2010; and Spring Awakenings, May 11-16, 2010. In addition to these hit musicals, the season will also include The Walworth Farce (November 4-7, 2009) and a performance by Broadway icon Brian Stokes Mitchell (December 12, 2009).

The performers are a who's who of the best of Key West. David Black is comfortable moving between musical theater, comedy and drama, as reflected in his many appearances on Key West stages. This season he appeared at the Waterfront in the highly praised 'Doubt' as well as 'Reefer Madness' and 'The Red Head Dilemma.' Laurie Breakwell appeared this season in the Key West Pops concert of 'A Little Night Music' and 'The Wild Women of Planet Wongo' at the Red Barn. Last season she appeared in the Barn's 'Bark!' as well as the Pops' 'The Pajama Game.'

Carbonell Award nominee, Robert Dawson, returns to the Playhouse after directing and choreographing widely acclaimed productions of NUNSENSE and HAIR to direct this summer production of GREASE, which runs July 10 through August 1, 2009 (Thursdays through Sundays) on the main stage.

The showcase features the talents of Jack Benton, Trey Gerrald, Jessica Leach and Mary-Margaret Roberts. Their work with Florida Rep's Children's Theatre series was seen all season long in the Rep's three offerings for kids & families. On the Arcade Stage, Leach was seen last in Art of Murder, Gerrald and Roberts in Alone Together and Benton most recently appeared in Star Crossed Lovers, Florida Rep's collaboration with the Southwest Florida Symphony.

Two brothers, alienated for years, are reunited and remember their shadowed history; and the mysterious disappearance of their father, in this darkly humorous tale about the nature of redemption.

With roots in gospel and classical training, which includes a degree from Florida Atlantic University, innovator Copeland Davis (who was influenced by Beethoven) received a standing ovation after his debut on 'The Tonight Show' and has enchanted audiences around the world.

FUERZA BRUTA has a company in New York that is currently performing their second blockbuster year, as well as a touring company that has played major cities worldwide including New York, Buenos Aires, Lisbon, London, Cordoba, Bogota, Edinburgh, Berlin, Mexico, and Sao Paulo to high critical acclaim.

UNDER SIX and UNDER SIX TOO feature the heartwarming and hilarious plays written by children ranging in age from Kindergarten to Sixth Grade sent in from all over Florida and around the world. SEVEN UP features work written by students in grades seven and higher. This year's production of SEVEN UP will feature several winning entries from Scotland, Israel, Russia and China.
