AVENTURA - Award-winning performer Avi Hoffman will infuse the new Aventura Arts & Cultural Center with the laughter, music and comedy routines that entertained generations of audiences in theatrical venues ranging from Yiddish Vaudeville houses to Catskills retreats to Carnegie Hall.

Donna Roll will present the final OperaFest performance at the Waterfront Playhouse on Saturday June 26 at 8 pm. The evening will feature the brilliantly talented young performers who are part of the Young Artist Program, currently taking place in Key West. Ms. Roll is the artistic director of the program, as well as a celebrated dramatic soprano, director, vocal coach and faculty member of the Longy School of Music in Boston. The students are part of the OperaFest performance training workshop and are chosen through a rigorous audition process from all over the world. Tickets to the Waterfront concert are $25 and may be purchased at the door the evening of the performance.

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County announced the special summer engagement of TAP DOGS, the high-voltage stage show that has wowed audiences worldwide with tap dancing and raw energy. Empire Stage in association with Thinking Cap Productions presents the Southeastern premiere of MilkMilkLemonade, from now to June 27, 2010. Grammy Nominee, Melba Moore, will perform live in concert in AN EVENING WITH THE LEGENDARY MELBA MOORE and Spoken Word Artist Daniel Beaty, will perform in EMERGENCY. Broward County Board of County Commissioners' Broward Cultural Division recently received a grant award from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). The 'Access to Artistic Excellence' award of $42,000 is to support the design and implementation of a series of specialized professional development programs and workshop services entitled, Broward Cultural Division Investing in Leadership Series.

The Lake Worth Playhouse continues its reputation of offering vibrant summer musical selections with Jonathan Larson's RENT. This Pulitzer-prize winning Broadway musical based loosely on Puccini's opera, La Bohème, tells the story of eight friends living the disappearing Bohemian lifestyle in New York's East Village. The show runs July 9 through July 31 at the Playhouse, located at 713 Lake Avenue in downtown Lake Worth.

Florida Studio Theatre's second show for the Summerfest season holds the title of longest running one-woman show in Off-Broadway history. Family Secrets, written by Sherry Glaser and Gregory Howells, is a hilarious family portrait that earned this distinction after 462 performances in 1995.

It is a 'Jolly Holiday' for me to tell you, MARY POPPINS is one of the greatest musicals in years.

Caldwell Theatre Company has completed their casting for Bob Clyman's Secret Order and announced that joining South Florida's preeminent actor Gordon McConnell are Nick Duckhart-last seen at Caldwell in The Whipping Man, Howard Elfman-South Florida's favorite character man and Katie Cunningham-currently enrolled in the FSU- MFA program at Asolo Theatre.

Carbonell nominee (Speaking Elephant) Angie Radosh has performed at Florida Stage, Caldwell Theatre Company, Palm Beach Dramaworks, Gable Stage, Actor's Playhouse, New Theatre, and Key West Theatre Festival, and was part of the award winning City Theatre Summer Shorts ensemble. Her work has earned a Curtain Up award and citations from the New Times. She received the Silver Palm Award for her work in Speaking Elephant and The Glass Menagerie at New Theatre. Television and film work include Disney's 'Johnny and the Sprites' and the award winning film 'Lost Everything.'

Forever Young is dedicated to the rising and aspiring talent between the ages of 13 and 19. Performers from Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties will be contributing their work in theatre, music and dance.

Nilaja Sun wrote and originally performed the Off-Broadway smash No Child. For her creation and performance of No Child, Sun garnered a Lucille Lortel Award, an Outer Critics Circle Award, a Theatre World Award, an Obie Award, the John Gassner Playwriting Award, and was named the Best One-Person Show at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. Over the 2007-2008 season, she toured No Child to several regional theatres including the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, American Repertory Theatre, Center Theatre Group, and Berkeley Repertory Theatre.

The show, which is not built on a traditional plot, utilizes clowning, pantomime, charades, acrobatics, and vaudeville to tell the story of Christ. A pageant that moves from moment to moment, GODSPELL features ten performers who are dressed as clowns. Jesus is played by local talent, Patrick Watkins; Judas is Josh Oliveras. The ensemble includes: Karen Reid, Rheanna Salazar, Ashlee Madhukar, Darnell Blake, Claudette Farquharson, Jonathan Yepez, Colin Healy and Dominuque Farquharson.
